Just a PSA, beards and stubble prevent a proper seal for masks. So it is best to shave before going out.
So basically no one in Brooklyn can go out.

Amateur tip: Do not economize on electric clippers. In terms of noise, vibration, and precision, the cheap ones are comparable to jackhammers. Using an El Cheapo brand clipper when you've become desperate enough to cut your own hair is a recipe for disaster. I learned this the hard way.

Definitely - good things no cheap; cheap things no good. I’m using my Wahl ‘industrial’ clippers that I routinely employ every Sunday. The beard, on the other hand, has become shagadelic.

Before lockdown, I was ~three weeks overdue.

Now, I’m using my wife’s hair tie to keep it off my neck while working out in the sun.

By the time This lockdown is over, I’ll look like Riff Raff:

Been using el-cheapo clippers and a hand mirror for the last 25 years. On my 2nd set, Remington, probably cost me $25 about 8 years ago. Haven’t had problems with either set. Just keep my hair short anyway so they don’t need to work hard. Usually 6 mm and 3mm.

One tip I haven’t yet taken up myself but think about most times - have a spare el-cheapo set on hand in case the one you’re using breaks down part way thru your haircut. It might save you an embarrassing trip to the electrical store.

Think how much money you’ll save over 25 years with DIY haircuts. 😀

Got into my barber the Saturday before UK lockdown so initially felt quite smug. However, the last two days have seen it going from manageable to shaggy (how does that happen?!) and Mrs is very keen to “sort it out” for me. I’ll hold off as long as possible...🤔

When the kids were little, the lady that cut their hair cut mine for kids price. We moved, and I refuse paying full price to get the 14 or so hairs on my head cut. Mrs Zin has been cutting mine for 20 years or so, so haircuts have not been a problem. Like some others here, my razor has quit working for some reason....

Had an appointment the day before the lockdown- felt lucky to get in. I’ll look like this within a week or two but despite me hating it- everyone seems amused by it.

Those of us who got teased incessantly as kids for our crazy curly hair do have a bit of smug as we age and keep the hairline....who’s laughing now!

I'm starting to look like that already, except the sides are long too. Maybe I'll shorten the sides and say I was going for the Eraserhead look!

I think everyone is finding this an amusing element of the unpleasantness, even professionally (I’ve been in a few zoom meetings where hats and bed-head have been points of collective praise and not shame). Let it go and have fun with it- break out that can of mousse you have in the back of the closet from the 80’s (trust me- it’s probably still fine), and go for the metal/new wave band look.

My hairline is just where it was in high school, but my face slid out from under it and dropped four inches.
My whiskers are tough as copper wire, very difficult to shave. Takes an hour to get it right first using an electric shaver then three disposable razors because they dull quickly.
I've let the beard grow since Christmas, just running the clippers over it with its deepest guard to even it out and trimming around the edges.
Hair on the head on the other hand cuts easily. I have a regular hair cutting set of clipper with various guards. I cut it short then let it grow a couple of months before bothering with it again.
For some reason my hair began growing in thicker and darker in recent years. This seems to run in the family. Hair becoming white by 60 then turning gradually darker till mid seventies ( I'll be seventy soon) and staying dark Iron colored streaked with very dark brown nearly black from then on.
Beard is still near white but stash is fairly dark like my hair.

I saw a fixie rider the other day trying his best to make the mask work over the top of a ridiculous beard... Didn't have the heart to tell him off since I could see his internal shaving dilemma playing out

I’m surprised he didn’t suck that mask right in trying to ride on any grade. 🤦

it’s easy. Just start with the larger setting and work it out from there. You can always take more, you can’t add once taken.

Just an update. As of this evening, many top-rated hair clippers are selling out on Amazon. Get yours while you can. 🤨

When I shower every Sunday.

Buzz cut.

I mean, I do my hair (haha, what there is of it) every Sunday, I don't just shower once a week!

Every morning I use the green beard remover (in the shower again).

I've tried the beard thing, but the habit of shaving every day of my life since I was sixteen (about 30 years of that was compulsory) takes over.
