Setting Day, Month, Date, and Moon Phase on a Tri-Compax

Hi everyone. I am not a watch collector. I received my father's Tri-Compax watch after he passed away in 2015. I have kept it in my drawer and have just recently decided to start wearing it. I cannot seem to find any information online on how to set the month, day, date and moon phase. I am assuming that they are set with the small 'button's" that are located on the left-hand side of the watch. Does anyone have any literature that I can reference or can easily explain how to set them, so they are accurate? I love the watch and think it is a beautiful piece. Any help or advice is appreciated.

It's important that you push the case-band adjustors in FULLY each time. Pushing them in half way risks an expensive service...

My suggestions are first to ignore the instruction of turning the hands back to eight o'clock. This may harm the movement and also risks an expensive service. For such watches allways turn forward. Second, push the pushers p1, p3 and p4 only when the time is set to approximately 6 o'clock to ensure that the normal setting mechanism of the watch is not in progress. Otherwise, again an expensive service may be needed.
Enjoy your Tri!

Unless you know that the watch was serviced shortly before your father's passing, you should consider having it serviced, even if it's just been sitting.

I do know he had it serviced a few years before he died. I would wind it up about 4-5 times a year while it was in my drawer just to make sure it was still working when I would look at it and remember him. I will try to find a jewler who I feel comfortable with that can service it. I did not realize that these watches can be pricey depending on the model. Is mine worthy of getting an appraisal done for insurance purposes?

That's a wonderful Clapton to remind you of your father.

On top of all the excellent advice that's been given, please also note the little warning about not setting the calendar between certain times (usually midnight and 3/4am).
