·Rolex AD's will be bracing themselves for all the phone calls they will receive to add the new model to their waiting lists. This will likely happen 0.00001 seconds after the announcement goes live.
C CraigtwI’m very tempted to buy a Speedmaster sapphire sandwich Before the 1st. But I also want to see if they bring out an updated model with the 3861. 😕
I went and bought the very same watch last weekend ahead of the price rise. There would have come a point that I would have resented paying the price of one so I figured I'd try to get one with a discount at the current price rather than one with 10-15% off the new 6% increased price.
I liked the idea of having the 1863 movement rather than a coaxial 3861. I know that the 1861/1863 movements aren't the original movement but they're certainly closer to original spec than the 3861 which Omega now fit to most of their watches. The feeling on other forums is that a move to the 3861 movement would also be accompanied by another 15ish% price increase on top of the 6% too.
C CraigtwWhat discount did you manage to get? Are you happy with the watch?
I have been wanting one of these watches for years and have continuously kicked myself for not picking one up a long time ago before all the other price rises. I am delighted with it! I always thought I would get the classic hesalite version but the polished 1863 movement is too nice to miss out on. I have had clumsy moments with watches in the past and didn't like the idea of really badly scuffing the hesalite (beyond the point of polishing). Sapphire stands a better chance of surviving a glancing blow against something!
I went to a major UK High Street AD and managed to get a 15% discount with a little gentle back and forth discussion. This got me the sapphire sandwich for the price of the hesalite.

Not sure whether it’s true, but if so it’s a very aggressive move in the midst of a world economy saddled with a pandemic.
Same here, though they didn't specify an amount. We already had a decent-sized jump in May across several lines, including Seamaster and Speedmaster, so if it's at the top end of 6% we'd be looking at rises of somewhere around 10-12% in 4 months, which is pretty damn sharp, especially given the market conditions. It's enough to have me looking elsewhere for a new diver (well, that and the current catalogue).
