P PatrickJMoney well spent
Absolutely, sir. My 6309 and I have been through quite a bit together over the last 30 years...hundreds of missions...and thousands of flight hours. If for some reason I was allowed to have only one watch from my very small and humble collection, I would easily choose the 6309. 👍
6309 pic from today...
P PatrickJFrom new what was tha accuracy like? I am thinking of getting a seiko 5, as a AD has them on offer at the moment in the UK.
I'm down at the beach for three weeks and all of my Seikos are at home so I'll have to use stock pics.
Here's one that may pop up a bit later 😉
I'm stunned at the response to this thread! The love is unexpected.
I shall look at Seiko a little differently, maybe even concede that the war is over and move on......
If anyone can educate me as how to set the day/date efficiently on my 6139-6005 pictured before, I may strap her up and give her a go!
Otherwise, FSOT!
On mine you push the crown in like a button, it's on a spring, and that changes the day. The date is a half-pull quickset. Curious if that does it for you!

I'm halfway there!
On this one, the push changes the date, the crown unpulled controls the rotating bezel and the full-pull the hands.
Even this is a help because now I could just do the "wind your balls off" to set the day.
Mind you, I do hate that and would still throw this as far as possible!
Anyway, Illiknight, thanks for the tip! I'll research and be no further bother.
This is all I could find:
The quickset mechanism on your watch is a two position push type. Push the crown in once and the date wheel will turn. keep pushing it deeper to it's second position and the day wheel will turn. To set the date, put the time somewhere between 0300 and 0900, set the day and date to yesterday, then cycle through the hours until the day and date change over to today. Don't forget that whichever language you set the day to is the language that will be displayed. also don't forget to cycle the hours enough to account for AM or PM.
No bother at all, happy to help! Happy New Year!
Didn't know some of them had a deep double push.😜

The father of a good friend of mine flew F4U Corsairs in the Pacific theater during WWII, went batshit when I told him most of the electronics and the engine in his Chrysler were made by Mitsubishi. The next day the Chrysler was replaced by a Ford. He said he spent 2 years shooting at and being shot at by Mitsubishi products and was damned if he'd own any of them. Go figure.
