Seeking info on two 1970´ s Omega Dynamics

Hallo I have two Omega Dynamics in my collection.

I m not familiar with these watches nor know a reference number or any background info. I just liked them for their unusual 70´s design, orange hands and "racing" dials.

Obvious difference on first view are dial, hands, color, date more rounded case, automatic writing, crown, etc.

Is the one with the date the later version?
Is the dial of the date watch ok?
Which are reference numbers?
Is one of them rarer than the other one?
Which movements, calibers are in there?
Are original (not reproduction) leather bracelets still avaliable?

Thank you very much for any information and have nice x-mas days!

I m just wondering that nobody here on OF seems to have or share any information on these just 50 year old watches... whats the reason? No Dynamic collectors around here?
Independent of this: merry x-mas to all of you!

There are quite a few threads on this site you can consult:

https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-geneve-dynamic.54387/
https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-genève-dynamic.89012/
https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-geneve-dynamic-automatic.80915/

Each of them has a link to Desmond’s article on the Dynamics, which is essential reading of anyone interested in these. There is a table at the end that shows reference numbers and movements.

These are good examples of the funky design so endemic to Dynamics - the Royal Blue plain dial in my avatar is very conservative by comparison!

I appreciate these but am no expert. The dial on the left looks good to me but I’m less certain about the one on the right - though it might be a later, known, dial variant.

Apparently you can still buy bracelets for these from Omega. The original straps were Corfam and I don’t believe are still made. But lots of aftermarket and custom made options around - again, check out threads using the search function.

enjoy these funky pieces!

Some of you questions (reference and movement numbers) will be answered if you have a watchmaker open the cases for you. Post photos when you get them opened. 👍

Thank you that's very helpful!

I m curious about the right dial as well - because I did not see another example like this. On the other hand the condition of the whole watch and the quality of the dial print and luminous indicates that it is original (of course this is my hope - otherwise I wouldn't have bought it). Hope to see another similar example...

Nice links - thanks for sharing!

Have a merry x-mas!

as far as I know the movements have to be removed via removing the crystal first, That makes it complicated and dangerous to destroy the crystals. Possibly a reason why there are not many case and movement pictures are around.

I too would caution against removing the movements unnecessarily, it is not a trivial job for the local Timpsons guy to try. The references should be pretty simple to work out. The LHS watch is the manual wind Gen 1 model, probably using the 601 movement or variant . The RHS is an auto Gen 2 which uses the later 10XX series or the 1481, that one is trickier. At a guess:

LHS: 135.0033, era late 1960s
RHS: 166.0107 (if 1481) or 166.0175 (if 1012), era early 1970s

They are both striking in a good way, if I had to choose one it would be the earlier LHS, though I generally prefer an Auto to a manual where there is a choice. These are best guesses, but educated ones!
