Hello;

Has anybody sent a 2nd Gen X33 in for a routine service and clean? I’m curious how the experience was and what the final cost came out to be.

Thank you.

The cost is well telegraphed on your local Omega website, it is the price they quote for a full quartz chrono (non precious metal) service. They replace the movement entirely, change all the gaskets, pushers and crown then refinish the case. That all sounds wonderful but in 3 years the battery is flat and you have to think about another visit for at the least a battery change. The X33 is great in theory and is a great workhorse but the upkeep it a bit annoying for an average Jo who doesn't buy one via the military program and therefore has to pay for their servicing!

Sent mine in for battery service and “weak” alarm volume. They recommended a water resistance service as well, which included all new pushers and crown. Total bill was about $225 which I thought was quite reasonable. The battery replacement apparently fixed the weak alarm issue.

I should also mention that a full 2 year warranty was also provided

I sent in a gen 1 due to the alarm not functioning (not a battery issue) - was about $800. Expensive, but watch has sentimental value for me so was worth it.

I'd expect that would've been a full replacement of the movement given the nature of the fault and the service cost. But if you had a previous version of the Cal 1666A/B you should now have the latest Cal 1666C (Thermocompensated) movement in your Gen1. So not just a fix, but an upgrade with higher accuracy.
