Compliments to Omega Factory Service

I know we often talk about avoiding factory service for vintage pieces, but I want to give praise when due.

I just had my 20 year old daily-worn titanium SMP300 fully serviced and they did a beautiful job. I knew it would run well, but stunned by how nice a job they did on the titanium bracelet. Sandblasted and polished surfaces as gorgeous as when I bought it 20 years ago.

They are certainly capable of doing very nice refinishing work. Just don’t send them anything with a tritium dial.

Am thinking the titanium bracelet had plenty of scratches before the factory service, as it had 20 years to collect them. Have seen T-Touch titanium bracelets pretty scratched up after just a year or 2. Nice job, Omega.

Obviously the Omega Service center did a great job of servicing your watch. Yes it looks brand new. The watch also looks as though you have worn it carefully and took good care of it through the years because it has few obvious dents or dings that can't be polished out during service.

Wow. They did a great job. I love the electric blue Seamaster, particularly in Ti. It’s one I’d love to have in my collection.

MIght want to reserve judgement until after you see the “before” photo I just posted!

I only started the beginnings of a watch habit in the last couple of years. It literally was my every single day watch for the prior 18 years. At the time it was a splurge and a bit of a reach for me. Haven’t regretted a moment since and can’t beat titanium for day-to-day. Still love it.

Wow that before and after photo shows a huge difference, it's like they sent back a brand new watch. I once sent my Seamaster to a service center who's case and bracelet had been fully mirror polished by the previous owner and they restored it to practically as new condition too.

Hard to tell but did Omega do a good job keeping the edges on the case crisp or have they been rounded at all with the refinishing?

They definitely refinish as the originals were finished. They have machines that hold the watch in the right place. Rounded edges come from hacks who don't have the fixtures and the machines and attack the watch case with a buffing wheel, hand-held. It's a rare person indeed who can do that and do a good job.

Stunning. 2231.80 is even hard to find on a secondary market, only a few sale offers per year, this is arguably the nices piece I ever seen 😁

For a 20+ year old watch, I’m pretty pleased with the crispness of the edges. Maybe titanium holds an edge better?

It's softer than steel.

As I said, they never got near the edge in a way that would blunt it because they have fixtures to hold the case steady.
