Does a noisy rotor both you? If yes, you'll appreciate the silent rotor spin of the 8900-caliber Planet Ocean.

Couldn’t let a mention of the POLMLE go without some pics for good measure! This is my second, after having bought and regretfully sold one about 8 years ago. Finally reacquired one about 1.5 years ago and it’s a permanent part of my collection now, along with my 2220.80:

If you can get your hands on a PO LMLE all your questions will likely have found an answer! 😀 to me the best Omega diving watch ever made

I never much liked the 300m, I find it a bit bland (purely personal opinion). However having seen a Bond tribute 300m in the flesh (the one with the gun barrel design and the coat of arms on it, don’t know the model reference), in a gold case, I have to say that one was very very nice! So, more options!

You’re very right of course, useless without pictures 😁

Since I bought it a year or so ago, it has become the only watch I wear… essentially I have become a one-watch-guy!!

I prefer the PO over the 300 all day (matter of opinion of course)...I'm actually going to be moving from my steel 39.5 to the ceramic version.

Will be listing in the FS section soon...😁

Up until a week ago, I faced a similar decision: the new Seamaster 300 in steel, or the PO…. Both now have the 8900 series movement which I prefer for its quick hour setting when traveling (do I look forward to international travel again…).
My OB had me try on the new SM 300, love it’s dial, hands, movement, size, but a bit less the bracelet and clasp (not a fan of polished bracelet links that I only end up scratching up).

And the winner is, for me at least: a lovely (albeit weighty) PO GMT, with the Orca bezel, graces my wrist now. I do have a flair for GMT complications
I’ve never heard it called an Orca bezel, I like it. Either Oreo or Cookies n Cream are the ones I’d heard.

This post needs more pics. Love your Cookies and Cream.
Sorry. Now side by side and a couple of others.

Living in the PacNW, I find “Orca” a more fitting nick name for a lovely diver watch than a cookies brand or ice cream flavor…😉

Last week, I picked up the OEM leather/rubber strap. While I still like the quick adjustability and comfort of the bracelet, I do also like the look and balance of the strap. I see a lot of switching in my future, just wish the bracelet were a tad easier to mount

I just found one recently and I can't wait to wear it. I immediately sent it in for service for a slight bezel issue and crystal replacement. For the short amount of time I did have it in my hands, I can see why it's regarded as the grail of PO's.

Both of your choices are very nice. The issue for me is that you current collection is mostly 40mm or 36mm That is if you have the DJ in 36mm. Also these watches are thinner than the PO and 300M. The 43.5 mm PO wide case, and I believe 16.5mm thick. Do you like the proportions of this watch? The Diver 300M is 42mm and I believe 13.5 mm thick. The two watches will fit the wrist differently. So if you want more wrist presence get the PO.

I’m thinking of getting one of the B&W NATOs, anyone tried one?

How do thickness and weight compare for everyone between the 300M Professional and the PO?

Obviously numbers/specs on paper are one thing but for real-life wear for example does the PO on rubber wear lighter than a 300M Professional on bracelet? Or is the PO on rubber/leather too top-heavy?

Curious as I’m looking into the Oreo above

I don’t find the Oreo too top heavy on the leather strap. I stopped wearing my old PO2500 on a bracelet as it felt too heavy in comparison.

It is too thick to fit under a French cuff, in case that’s a consideration.

Got it, that’s perfect. Do you happen to have the weight of the Oreo / both by any chance?

My PO steel “Orca” (can’t get myself to call my lovely GMT after a cookie…) on the rubber/alligator strap weighs 142g or ~5oz. On my wrist, the strap has a good fit, I wear it all day long for anything I do, and it doesn’t feel top heavy, nor slopping around my wrist.
But it certainly isn’t a slim watch, but I rarely wear dress shirts with cuffs, so not a concern for me.

David just shared the Orca weight. I’ve sold the 2500 but according to the internet on the bracelet it weighed 242g. I guess that’s why it felt like such a beast.

Have the 300m and the POLMLE, which is indeed the grail PO. Both are totally worth it. PO is a 600M diver, more than you need, but it dors carry that original Omega DNA from the Seamaster 300. A DNA which is shared with many other divers issued to the Royal Navy by the way. And the 300m is a nineties design but a home run nonetheless. It offers a slimmer package with everything you need, and it is not so “serious” as the PO. It’s like Sub x GMT. You can choose one, but you will eventually want the other.

Yes I essentially stole your answer. But it’s the truth! Different watches with different qualities.
