I was recently looking for a 2531.80 but could not find anything in the condition I wanted. During my search I noticed that the quartz 2541.80 was very close it not evenly priced with the automatic. Are the quartz models increasing in price? In the past they were always significantly less.

this being said, would anyone consider a quartz version in their collection, pros and cons.

thanks

Yes, 2541.80 prices have gone up quite a bit over the past few years. While not quite as desirable as the 2531.80, there is still healthy demand for it. It was also the first Brosnan "Bond" watch.

I wouldn't, because I rotate watches reasonably often. I wouldn't want to be constantly changing batteries. Therefore all mechanical for me. One slight exception, the Bulova Precisionist draws very little current while the crown is pulled out and the motor isn't running, so my one Accutron II, which uses the Precisionist movement, I'm fine with.

I’d consider a quartz if I was buying the midsize version. Other than that quartz doesn’t make a lot of sense to me on a watch costing a few thousand. Even the midsizes have seen a solid price increase.

I have a quartz version, I like it both in terms of how it wears and that I can just pick it up and put it on without having to set the time or wind it. It's a regular pick when heading out the door for work. This current battery has lasted about 4 years so its not something to worry about. I picked it up for reasonable money and it is hassle free apart from needing a new battery every couple of years. When changing the battery I also get the seals changed, and pressure tested, not that it goes near water, but it needs to be looked after properly.

I also have a quartz version my only quartz watch, but I love it. It wears well and looks really good. It’s one of my go to watches. I would not trade it for the world. Starting to look like a classic watch. Good luck

What that bottom graph seems to clearly show is that while the asking prices are rising fast, selling prices are not...
