Seamaster 30 black dial - need help in deciding

Hi everyone - I am from India and relatively new to watch collection, but always wanted to own a pre owned Omega.

Came across this Omega Seamaster 30 steel listed on a reliable site called Luxepolis(based out of India).

Seamaster 30 is listed for INR 65,000 i.e. approx USD 800. Please let me know if this is genuine Omega and if yes , is the price worth it. (I have asked the representative to provide a pic of the inside of the back case with serial number)

I have uploaded a few pics of watch from the site. ( I can upload the exact link/URL of the listing if it is allowed by forum admins).

Thanks!

Looks like someone had fun with the lume. Others will comment on this but I say it's not original and you should not buy it.

(based out of India).

Not to be negative toward India, but most stuff I see from there are creatively redialed. For a beginner in vintage I would suggest browsing this site's for sale section to be safe.

I would not purchase this watch, t looks as if the dial has been reworked. Asking for a photo of the movement is a good call, unfortunately the photo you receive might not be of the actual watch you are interested in.

As mentioned purchase from a known source, there are many Omega forums hopefully you will find a watch that you like.

I wish you the very best in your quest.

Definitely a redial - and a bad one - and nowhere near worth 800 USD 😀 Seamaster 30 is a very common model and 800 USD should buy you a fine and original example. Black dials are harder to find, but is it not impossible.

just posting the URL in here as it lists other preowned watches too for clarity if anyone has thoughts or have heard about it, they also perform authenticity check, the marketplace is also fairly well known site and has appeared in articles in Vogue and Forbes. If it is against forums norms of uploading URL, I am ok if the admin would like to delete the post or the link pasted below.

It is common for dealers to sell crappy and redialed watches at outrageous prices. You will be much better off by browsing the for sale sections here on Omegaforums 😀

yep. Any watch from India is almost certainly a redial. With that said, many of them are actually quite good, albeit not original at all. They have a long history of redialing watches and have gotten quite good at it. Most on this forum will frown on ANY redial, but if you go in knowing this, I don’t see that it is a problem. Just realize that the dial on the original watch did not come from the factory looking like this.

Something else: buying in and from India will very often result in damaged movements because of the climate and the lack of spare parts. Just keep that in mind, can save you a hefty repair bill. And do not listen to vintage watch stuff, published in Vogue and Forbes. They have no idea.....

thank you ,this has been a great knowledge sharing session in this forum .👍 the only reason I was looking at that site is because I reside in India and if I buy something from non India based sites I will have to pay a hefty sum for import duties🙁 maybe upto 150% 😡of the original price. but i will look at the options available in here as pointed out by other members.

It doesn’t matter. It’s still a badly redialled and overpriced watch 😀

Persisting after multiple answers to OP questions and then a link to a dealer with his own mark of approval of said dealer has me perplexed and in a state of wonderment.
