    Hi Collective,

Still looking for a 1960's vintage seamaster... Have taken on board the advice on here and not jumped at the first thing (although on reflection probably wish I had - never mind!)

Have steered away from black dials as they seem to be a bit of a minefield, but have seen this one and would welcome opinions. Looks nice but is it too nice??

    1958 Seamster 30
    Calibre 284
    Case ref 2910-6-SC
    Serial No: 16278161
    Untouched dial
    New glass
    Original crown

Can't match it's details on the Omega data sites (but I may well be doing it wrong).

Untouched dial? I think not. Looks like a complete fantasy.

There are two different watches in the photos, either that or the same watch with different crowns.

Whenever I see that phrase I know it's going to be bad news.

    Exactly.

This "cleaned and serviced by ex Omega employee" phrase on eBay almost always means "this is a polished up turd".

Perhaps there is a reason he's an EX Omega employee. :D

Are any of the Seamaster 30s above original dials? In other words did Omega actually produce black dials in the 60s - the one above with silver case, gold minutes and hands / metal strap. I think it's perfect - but is it original - were they really produced like that?

Not at all. I'm just asking the question. I was thinking about buying one but read mixed opinions on black dials. So Im just asking everyone. I like your watch

If you like it then that's all that matters. I'd call it 'Bespoke'

Absolutely if you like it that's what counts.

However I'd quite to get hold of one - any idea what the original black dials actually looked like? Settings hands etc.
