It was mostly a jockular off-hand comment, as that's what kinda mostly set it off before the day of the incident.

In my (eyes/view/opinion ... don't come for me in the comments, sheesh) It was the conversion to the dealers sales that sent fred totally off the deep end .... so it was just terrible humor on my part.

You might be thinking of Dennis IE ulackfocus. However, this Dennis was dennisthemenace.

Not sure I am adding much to the conversation here, but I did witness the blow-up with Fred in real time (or at least the public part of it). My opinion of it, as wells as other smaller dust ups I have observed, is that the mods act with a lot of restraint, clean-up truly ugly posts that don't need to be public, and then let the issues go as quietly as possible. The mods give multiple chances and avoid banning members unless a person is really asking for it with their poor behavior. The mods act in a way that prioritizes keeping the forums functional and civil, and therefore they don't spend a lot of time publicly defending themselves and justifying their actions. Personally, I agree with their methods, because once you start justifying and defending yourself you prolong the argument. I have come to trust our mods, and truly appreciate what they do.

He did recently make a brief reappearance.

There’s a weekly clubhouse meet run by @Bill Sohne that is always stickied in the open discussion thread each week, that might be a better approach since most of us have a face for radio 😀
