The Rodent agrees! Minor changes just feed the hype. Even the new movement isn't necessarily a better one. I view the new models as having miniscule changes but they'll soon appear on grey sites at highly inflated prices. There are so many better alternatives, witness the Omega Seamaster.
No, I would say after suing the company that was having success with these colours, ending their sale of said watches, Rolex realized there was a market they could tap.
38mm models in the future? There is that growing gap between 36mm and 41mm across the entire range.
Perhaps they realized that these colors attract a younger demographic which is what they're after? After all, their existing customer base, including most of the people on this forum, are getting a bit long in the tooth.
Don't know how big this customer base is though? It's an interesting experiment. I guess if we see Rolex kill the line next year we'll know. That brings up an interesting idea which is that this may be a great speculative buy just to take a gamble on it being a short release and it being very collectible in the future.
Yes, this is likely right but will include the protruding end links which makes most watches on oyster wear bigger than they really are.
I honestly think you nailed it. I feel that Rolex is in a position where they can do that, make a short run and people will pick them up anyway. What I am concerned with, is what if Rolex keeps doing boring releases? I wonder how that will affect the brand.
It hasn't stopped people from buying the logo.
I think if someone wants to make some money they should buy the entire set (all the colors), put it away in a safe, and then auction it off in 20 years. I bet it would fetch a premium as a new set.
I kind of like it for a number of reasons.
1- My Hulk is now more valuable
2- My sub date is now more valuable
3- My sub no date is now more valuable
4- My OP 39 is now more valuable
I’m curious about seeing the new 41 mm in the flesh. I do like the more elegant case elements. Even though I love the hulk, in general, the maxi case was a little much for me.
The Kermit “Cermit” is a very nice looking watch, If I didn’t have the Hulk I would consider it.
The color OP’s don’t bother me. I like to see a more playful side to the brand. I have a grape OP and my wife has a 1967 OP that was originally champagne but we got one of the “clutch your pearls” green dial substituidles because she likes it and it’s her birth year watch and she can do as she wants with it.
Overall I would not mind having the orange, the yellow, the blue and the green, but they are not quite desirable enough to take my eyes and wallet away from other watches I’m looking for. But if I had them I’d use them for sure. Nice and easy.
There are so many better alternatives, witness the Omega Seamaster.
Again a matter of taste. I could only possibly fathom the Seamaster 300 as an alternative.
The 300M is out because it doesn't come with hands, but with an annoying helium valve instead ; whilst the PO does come with hands, but too prominent ones and still with an annoying helium valve.🍿

Here we go...let the speculation begin
