No, I would say after suing the company that was having success with these colours, ending their sale of said watches, Rolex realized there was a market they could tap.
What component was sued?

The Rodent agrees! Minor changes just feed the hype. Even the new movement isn't necessarily a better one. I view the new models as having miniscule changes but they'll soon appear on grey sites at highly inflated prices. There are so many better alternatives, witness the Omega Seamaster.
Exactly.

People will buy them up anyway because it is the new Rolex. Similar to how everyone buys the new iphone every year or whatever.

Some company that used to modify Rolex dials with vibrant colors. If you go through the whole thread someone mentioned it earlier.

Perhaps they realized that these colors attract a younger demographic which is what they're after? After all, their existing customer base, including most of the people on this forum, are getting a bit long in the tooth.

Don't know how big this customer base is though? It's an interesting experiment. I guess if we see Rolex kill the line next year we'll know. That brings up an interesting idea which is that this may be a great speculative buy just to take a gamble on it being a short release and it being very collectible in the future.

Read 50.4mm on the new one somewhere, will try and find it again.
Do Rolex provide those specifikation on the website?
Yes, this is likely right but will include the protruding end links which makes most watches on oyster wear bigger than they really are.

38mm models in the future? There is that growing gap between 36mm and 41mm across the entire range.
Great observation. I kind of hope so. I think a 38mm or even 37 would be cool. I know a 37mm Yachtmaster exists, but it is a lot shinier than a Sub.

I honestly think you nailed it. I feel that Rolex is in a position where they can do that, make a short run and people will pick them up anyway. What I am concerned with, is what if Rolex keeps doing boring releases? I wonder how that will affect the brand.

To be specific, the SD43 was just released, GMT Master 2 received updates recently, the sub did today, explorer 2 is next year for sure, the Yachtmaster also received updates what does Rolex have left? Maybe the Daytona, and that's it?

Then what will they do for the next 5 or so years?

No this is lug2lug not endlink2endlink in my understanding. A membrer on another forum measured his 116610 endlink2endlink and it was 51mm+ so the states length should be true lug2lug!

It hasn't stopped people from buying the logo.

I think if someone wants to make some money they should buy the entire set (all the colors), put it away in a safe, and then auction it off in 20 years. I bet it would fetch a premium as a new set.

i was happy with these new rolex releases. because i have an urge to buy. ..absolutely none of them. if they'd come up with anything interesting (like the bb58 blue) it would have put a real hole in the budget

still have zero interest in any modern rolex except the ceramic bezel daytona

I kind of like it for a number of reasons.

1- My Hulk is now more valuable
2- My sub date is now more valuable
3- My sub no date is now more valuable
4- My OP 39 is now more valuable

I’m curious about seeing the new 41 mm in the flesh. I do like the more elegant case elements. Even though I love the hulk, in general, the maxi case was a little much for me.

The Kermit “Cermit” is a very nice looking watch, If I didn’t have the Hulk I would consider it.

The color OP’s don’t bother me. I like to see a more playful side to the brand. I have a grape OP and my wife has a 1967 OP that was originally champagne but we got one of the “clutch your pearls” green dial substituidles because she likes it and it’s her birth year watch and she can do as she wants with it.

Overall I would not mind having the orange, the yellow, the blue and the green, but they are not quite desirable enough to take my eyes and wallet away from other watches I’m looking for. But if I had them I’d use them for sure. Nice and easy.

You're correct. It would be cool to do that too. But I've heard that there are better ways to invest money. Do I know them? NO. hahahaha

Still trying to find out for myself.

Wow! Good for you 👍

Again a matter of taste. I could only possibly fathom the Seamaster 300 as an alternative.

The 300M is out because it doesn't come with hands, but with an annoying helium valve instead ; whilst the PO does come with hands, but too prominent ones and still with an annoying helium valve.🍿

Well the Seamaster 300MC doesn't have any of those "issues" 😉

Overall feels very underwhelming. Rolex has a once-in-a-generation update for their most popular watch, and basically just change the case shape and nothing else (and get in the new movement). Even the shade of green on the new hulk bezel is identical to the old one. Obviously they've done lots of customer research and no doubt feel this update will sell well.

While like everyone else, not a huge fan of the code 11.59 dials, at least AP and Vacheron and other brands are doing something interesting. Rolex (and probably Patek too) are really resting on their laurels. I know it's unreasonable to expect brands to have brand new watch lines every year, but from 30cm+ away I think it'd almost be impossible to tell the new black sub from the previous geneartion.

Mostly yawn to me, tho I guess maybe shoulda grabbed a 39 op before cancel. Ive noticed the one in the f/s has conspicuously vanished 😗
