The new Sub is 50mm+ lug2lug, way to big for most wrists IMO

The 41mm is almost identical in lenght to the 40mm. It's the same but at least not worse.

The new is longer lug2lug than the previous model, don’t know exactly but think I have read to Old one is 48-49mm something.
5-digits are 46-47mm if remember correctly!

Where did you get your measurements? On the available comparison pictures it looks like the lug-lug distance is exactly the same. All reports also state it wears better than the previous model. And it's still to be confirmed whether it's an actual 41mm in diameter too.

Yeah it's pretty disappointing that the colors don't have texture and are just solid. But I actually think they look awesome. Reminds me of the vintage Rolex daydate stella dials. Maybe it was an inspiration for the 36 OP? The blue is a stunner, something I'd love to have 🙄 the yellow one too! The size is cool, 34mm would've been cooler imo 😁
The turquoise dial in 34mm would have been killer !

I don't understand the point of slightly bigger case but same design. Making change for the sake of making change?

But don't you worry, plenty of people buy the logo, not the watch.

On a more positive note, it looks like Rolex have slimmed down the lugs on the 36mm OP, reducing the boxy appearance of the older versions.

Definitely a plus.

Read 50.4mm on the new one somewhere, will try and find it again.
Do Rolex provide those specifikation on the website?

You have to think back to them suing a company that was making bright coloured dials and doing well at it 📖

Best way to stop someone profiting from this

is do it to start with 😉

Indeed - puts that lawsuit into some interesting context. Who is copying who? 😁

And now doubt many of the people who called all those colours abominations when the company in California was doing them, will be falling all over themselves to praise the innovation that the almighty Rolex has bestowed upon us. 🙄

With the new color offerings from Rolex, Grand Seiko should feel better now.

Yeah, kind of lame in my opinion.

Next year will be a good one with the explorer 2 getting a facelift. Hopefully they don’t ruin it!

Read somewhere that lugs are 21mm on new Sub

New Sub won’t fit any older bracelets ?

21mm straps are going to be hot property.

No, I would say after suing the company that was having success with these colours, ending their sale of said watches, Rolex realized there was a market they could tap.

Nothing in the brochure to confirm or deny this. Would be a sneaky little "no headphone jack" kind of move...

I think the slimmer lugs are a result of a larger lug width, which makes sense given the bracelet is reportedly wider. I suggest 21mm now

And

From Hodinkee

The choice to pair the watch with a slightly broader Oyster bracelet accentuates this change too - the proportional width of the bracelet to the lugs grows even more, making a much more shapely and contour-rich watch.

I’m sorry but I’m starting to realize some you tubers are Rolex suck ups.

I’ve seen a few say “what used to be a perfect 40mm case has been slightly adjusted to 41mm which is even more perfect!”

come on

both sizes can’t be perfect

next year they make it 43 and all these suck up watch reviews guys will say “OMG! Even MORE perfect, what else could we expect from Rolex”

:shaking head:

i like Rolex, for the accuracy, the reliability, the fact that they hold value well

but give me a break

Upsize by 1mm and the world is super excited?

the reveal of the Pepsi GMT in steel was exciting

this?

not so much

The Rodent agrees! Minor changes just feed the hype. Even the new movement isn't necessarily a better one. I view the new models as having miniscule changes but they'll soon appear on grey sites at highly inflated prices. There are so many better alternatives, witness the Omega Seamaster.
