Got some suggestions? I do listen to a few gonna see my friends band this weekend he put together a fifty piece orchestra to do “I am the walrus” and of course additional songs but he is amped up cool to see. He can’t stop talking about his show and I think he’s just gonna break even with size of his band.
Sounds like that’ll be a cool show - update us on how it goes for your friend!

And sure, a few I’ve been loving lately are
  • Goose (all rock, sweet guitar solo jams. Some of their recent live sets like the one at MSG are awesome)
  • My Morning Jacket (Also rock, listen to the live set at bonnaroo from 2008 if you can. 3+ hours of playing in down pouring rain)
  • Lotus (some electronic elements, and almost all instrumental, but really cool and unique
  • STS9 (super weird, super cool)
  • pigeons playing ping pong (mostly rock, but other elements at times

believe all of these artists have live sets on spotify if you are able to listen there! Always happy to hear suggestions as well, if you have any!

I caught Pigeons Playing Ping Pong live at Peach Fest. They were excellent. Highly recommend.

Dark Star Orchestra continues to nail it. I've seen a half dozen of their shows over the last couple years when they'd roll through town and I have to say, there's no one I'd trust more right now with the ride.

Dark Star orchestra is pretty wild. I saw them a few times.
I think of all the dead iterations I’ve seen warren Haynes did the most Justice to Jerry. Dead and company is very good. I gotta admit I was a bit anti John Mayer, I knew his guitar teacher and the dude never shut up about him but Mayer was phenomenal with the band. Still warren seems to be low key and I’ll be damned he plays those solos with such feeling if a closed my eyes I’d hear shades of Jerry.
Serious XM is doing some really nice specials on Phil right now. What was his bass the star fire with 12knobs called? I think it was the beast? But they were doing highlights of the sound he could get out of that. Damn what an amazing bassist he was.
