One of my early bosses told me " sometimes you have to firer the customer!"

I wish I could do this in real life... but then I'd fire most of my customers 馃檮

LOL! One time a few years ago y boss and one of my colleagues were sitting around the boss's office bitching about various customers we'd had bad experiences with during the week. After a pause for reflection, my colleague exclaimed, "Damnit, all our customers are a$$holes!"

My boss turned to him and serenly replied, "Yes, but they are our a$$holes"

I guess the point I'm trying to make, particularly as a newbie here ( although not elsewhere) is its your call.

You can set hoops to jump through for the guy, but they are your hoops, to add to or remove as you see fit.

He may be new & keen and not get the etiquette or he may be an immigrant with a different cultural take and have English as a second language and come across as odd or he may be a scammer.

If you don't feel comfortable, don't do it.

Youu can always change your mind, too, and ask for some details that you hadn't previously, or research in other ways.

Fundamental though, if it gets down to a sale going ahead, some real-life identity must be forthcoming

Good luck!

I have a huge problem with this weapon. If it's dark, why would you want to tell the hidden bad guys EXACTLY where you are and give them a lighted target to shoot at? The light should be 3 or 4 feet to either side so they aim at air.

Way too many red flags. Bad attitude/tone of voice would be enough, honestly.

Ultimately for a 拢400 sale I'm not going to spend hours working out whether or not he genuinely is honest, when the gut feel is of poo poo.

The whole thing just making me feel very uneasy.

Asking for pictures that are already in the listing... Asking me to ship to Switzerland, although he's in the US...

For what it's worth, I say trust your gut on this one. Another buyer that won't get the crap detectors vibrating will be along soon enough. I've said no to buyers based on the slight tingle that something is not right and I will continue to do so.

Today, I've been contacted across 3 forums, by one person, about the Mayol that I have for sale.

In each message he's including an email address and asking me to email him rather than talk through the forum... Which got my spider sense tingling... He was a brand new signup here.

Just messaging me through WUS... And I've told him that I won't sell to him.

Hes now losing his marbles.

Assuming similar behaviour would have others reaching for the "do not sell to this potential scammer" button?

So long as I get the money into my bank account before sending the watch I have absolutely no qualms about selling to a new member,he has more to worry about sending cash to you before his watch arrives, you as the seller have nothing to lose at all.
I'm a member on TZ and once I've pmd the seller to buy I then make some comment on the sales post that I have bought the watch so it is visible to all that we have struck a deal.

So get the money,THEN send the watch,I always prefer BT over PP.

Hahaha! If I had married the woman I dated before I met my wife, that would be good advice.

We'll try not to hold that against you. 馃榿

BTW, set an avatar before I put in a picture of Mark Howe (wore #2 on his uniform) or a Philadelphia Flyers logo.

Any arrangement where the money is coming from one location and the watch is going to another would make me uneasy.

Luckily PayPal has seller protection as long as you ship to the address on the paypal order. I haven't had cause to test this "protection" yet (knock on wood), but it seems that insurance and delivery & signature confirmation is enough for PayPal to have one's back.

Does this mean discourse with the buyer is irrelevant? Not by a long shot. But it's enough that I am willing to sell online whereas I would otherwise not even try. I wonder, though, what would happen if a buyer claimed you sent them an empty box. Even if it's insured, is there any way to prove the contents? The right buyer is indeed of great import.

This works as good as the buyers protection vice versa. I have heard weird stories of sellers getting their watches returned because of any reason but with some parts exchanged in the meantime.

No way to claim anything from PayPal in that case plus your watch is back with you raped and franken.

He sent me a long rant on WUS, claiming that I'm an anti-American racist... There were a lot of swear words.

I'm not yet regretting my decision to refuse the sale...
