Some people are dicks, plain and simple, and it is not just #merica, I have dealt some real assholes #globally.

It all gets down to how you ask for it.

I sold a piepan Connie to a low user # on here who was based in Vietnam, and wanted the watch shipped to CA to his brother. There was a hang up with PP, and me not having protection, and we worked it out so that his brother could deposit a check in my Bank of America account.

Due to the great communication, it was clear that the buyer was not a scammer, and I was more than happy to work with him.

I have definitely turned away buyers before because of their attitude, not many, and if this guy rubbed you the wrong way, then you are 100% fine to walk away.

In the end, go with your gut. GLWS.

What's up with the #merica comment?

The wording of the messages was #MERICA rather than America.

To my mind #MERICA is rather aggressive, and self entitled, America is a different matter.

So would #Brexit mean rather dim witted, close minded, xenophobic, uneducated Brits? 😝

First off, it's "murica", not "merica"...... as in:

If'n y'all don't like murica, den git out.

Second, America doesn't hold the patent on entitlement. I'm pretty sure we learned it from the Brits as a matter of fact. 😉

Lastly, aggressive is the behavior we were founded on. Taxation without representation? Well, we didn't just protest and demand a referendum. Even dumping tea in the bay wasn't enough for us. No, we have to pummel anyone who we disagree with.

So would #Brexit mean rather dim witted, close minded, xenophobic, uneducated Brits? 😝

Hey now, Britain doesn't have a lock on those behaviors either. There are plenty of rather dim witted, close minded, xenophobic, uneducated muricans to go 'round. How else do you think an egomaniac idiot like Trump could get this far in the election process?

Now you two play nice.

I said #Merica.

This was obviously a mistake on my part, for which I unreservedly apologise.

I should have said #Arseclown.

Well at least Drumpf isn't president (yet?) - the Philippines are providing quite the blueprint on boorish, crazy elected heads of state.

I would just be grateful that it wasn't one of those sophisticated scammers that knows how to present themselves as a legit buyer and move along.
I just bought my first watch via the forum and had to send money via bank wire for the first time in my life. I found it a rather simple process. Guess I'm too new to this to understand how a seller could get scammed out of their watch assuming you simply request bank wire and then wait for funds to clear before shipping the watch? Is this an unusual request?

Yes, not unheard of, but not common. Most common would be Paypal, but there is no right or wrong. Buy the seller and the buyer.
Bank Transfer to Russia?, ain't gonna happen.

I got you...well for my specific situation I lurked the forum for a few weeks before deciding on a purchase...during that time I was able to view the overwhelming positive feedback on the seller so I felt comfortable with it (which to me is one of the huge positives of this forum as the collective experiences of the members here cuts down on your risk as a buyer when purchasing via the FS listings on the board)...if he felt the need to protect himself due to my lack of post history it was fine with me. Frankly at the time of purchase I assumed this was SOP so I didn't think twice about it.

Asking for email and or telephone is normal. Jeres what i do.

Payment through money order or cash
We exchcange pictures of ID
Shipping must match ID, if business i need business cards ( and then i call the business and ask for him)

If shipping to a differnt ppace why and where and who. And he covera cuatoma amd added costs and risks and money has to be in my account prior to shipping.

I do ask for this on am undertsanding and freindly manner... Until i dont.

Sometimes ot is all just fine amd its just a weird lerson or newbie

An Ebay seller who posted an unexpectedly sought-after watch recently complained that people were showing up at his home at 6AM to proposition him for it. Have you checked your front lawn?

If someone did that to me, they might be greeted with this

Interesting thread. When I was looking for a Longines for Mrs. Fling, I contacted a gentleman on WUS that had a ladies watch for sale that I thought Mrs F would like. I have virtually no post count there (WUS) but made the man a fair offer paying by wire. The watch was less than $700. He asked for references and I gave him all that I had on this forum. He declined my offer as I didn't have enough references to satisfy him and he said that the wired funds didn't help because I could pay for the wire with a credit card and then dispute the charge later. I went to Jomashop and paid less for a watch that was a better fit for Mrs F. Two weeks late the gentleman messaged me wanting to know if I was still interested in the watch.....😜. No, there is no point to this story I've just had a few beers and felt chatty.....🤪

When I screen tenants, we must be on the same plane regarding communications.
If we're having trouble at the application process, then I don't move forward.

Attitude matters too. I asked one applicant how his credit was. His response was "Dude, I'm renting your house, not buying it."
And no, he did not rent the house.
