Not quite sure if the -68 is correct for a cal. 321 movement but aside from the really high price, the case is not in good shape.

nice starter watch. I'm only recommending because I've dealt with this seller in the past and he sells nice stuff. Also a very competent watchmaker and he gives most of his watches a full service before he lists them. figure that's worth 2 - 3 hundred bucks minimum so a watch like this becomes almost free.

The price is so low due to the small size of the case (for a SM) I guess

+1 on that, the small case size (32mm) is what will hold this back, otherwise nice...

Help me out here - based on earlier conversations, are the hands the wrong length as well?

No - it's a midsize and only 32mm in diameter. The hands extend to the edge of the dial on such models. I personally am a fan and think we'll see the end of the Uboat dinner plates and a return to more vintage sized watches.

One of the nicest Cal. 321 145.012 speedmasters I have seen for sale in at least the past 1-2 years. Price is high to be sure but when will you see an example as nice as this one again? This is the one to open the coffers up for - remember folks, condition, condition, condition...

Plus one: "From your keyboard to the Watch Gods' ears!"

But I doubt it very much. The majority of watch buyers are not collectors like us. They have grown up with "dinner plates" and they do not know smaller watches existed in former times... Most of them would consider a watch of 32 - 34 mm a no go.
And they want to show off how much money they have spent for a watch - for most men a watch is the only "jewelry" they wear (except some rappers or similar persons).

I am sad to say, but I think we will not see much smaller watches in the near (or far) future.

I have always bought "against the cycle" - gold watches when "white metal" was en vogue, pink gold when nobody wanted it, small and mid sized watches when dinosaurs were "in".
With the metals I was on the right path - it paid back very well!
But with size I am not sure if it ever will...

I would ask for a movement shot...lots of corrosion/rust on the back of one of the lugs and the fact it is coming from the Philippians!

Looked at it twice. Like it. Was considering it too, but have other fish to fry so no worries about any bidding wars with me.
