Out of this world - at least the seller’s BIN price of £999.00 is!

Mind you, a starting price of £0.99 over 6 days is substantially more realistic.

What puzzles me slightly is why a UK seller has posted the 'About this item' details in Italian.

Even with a nice looking 552 movement, I’ll be surprised if this gets much beyond £400.00
Yea a man can dream I guess, it’ll just go for a much lower bid

This one should clean up quite nicely, rough crystal and some scratches on the gold-capped case but not too bad, movement looks clean and I think the dial will be pretty good under the crystal.

Not going to lie I had to look up what a “Grand Knight” is. Apparently it’s part of a Catholic organization. The only group I knew of that refers to their leadership as “Grand” is not something I’d want to be affiliated with in any way.

Knights of Columbus ... My grandfather belonged to the group when he was alive.

Yea it’s literally just Catholic freemasonry. I’ve got some family members that were Freemasons and some who were knights of Columbus and they describe what they entail as pretty much the same thing right down to being the designated drivers taking inebriated old important farts home after they were too drunk to stand up.

The Pope way back when banned Catholics from being Masons so they built their own version though they probably don’t call it that themselves.

So I got a PM from a member stating that Freemasons don’t drink… that may be so in some jurisdictions and I’m not an expert on that but I can guarantee that locally they have some massive piss-ups and I’ve heard plenty of first hand stories and accounts of the young blokes having to dig the older ones out of trouble over the years. Maybe that’s more of an Australian thing than a US thing but it definitely happens here. Kind of off topic so might move these out to another thread in the morning through.

Sorry for derailing. I just found that engraving concerning at first glance.

Ok this is rather cool and interesting, Seamaster Piepan in 14K Solid gold quartz day-date. Plenty of these are around in gold-plate but this is a mint condition 14K solid gold version which is frankly rather spectacular.

That may be, but please note that the quartz movement is non-functional. So only value here is case and dial. Current price is way above gold content.

This is true, if it were me I’d source a cheap donor and wear it given the condition but I’m probably more a fan of these than most people.

Another good De Ville, looks a bit rough in photos but it will clean up well being 14K solid gold with a nice dial, IBM presentation caseback engraving which is kind of cool too

This 14K gold IBM presentation Seamaster De Ville goes off in 1 hour, still only $700
