That’s a crazy deal. The gold is probably worth more than the watch…

That's a really odd case... No Swiss hallmarks, no reference number in the back, but the movement type is there?? Very, very odd.

Could be a different case manufacturer?

The movement is stamped for US import, so maybe an US sourced case?

I’ve never seen a U.S. made case like that.

Besides, it says “Swiss Made”. I’ve not seen a Swiss case like that either.

Could be a service replacement, but I doubt it. Looks like it was a modern engraving over something else.

Something doesn’t add up with this watch.

Oh yeah, but my point is that if it’s 18k then does that matter? Someone might just buy to melt it down! Not that I approve of that…

The price of pure gold is about 60USD per gram. Most vintage ~34mm dressy watch cases (case and back) weigh in at around 6-9 grams. Factor in the karats (9k-18k), and youre left with most solid vintage gold watches having around 150-400USD worth of gold. Then factor in the "scrappers fee" of probably 5-10%.

Nice but seller’s description says 31mm diameter

Saw this one too but even for vintage, 31mm might be a tad bit on the small side!

Beautiful watches, this one no exception. Just sayin', seller's description has not mentioned the inscription behind one lug visible in the photos, so buyers will want to decide how they feel about it.
Yea it looks a bit like watchmakers markings that are typically inside the caseback but being on the underside of a lug and given the overall condition I wouldn’t be bothered by it, that can polish off if it bothers anyone but as a whole its just a really nice piece.

Yea but could have been a non-paying bidder or something, I haven’t noticed it cycling so its probably just been relisted the once

It has an unusual small calibre 570. What do you think of this movement?

That’s a good point, there aren’t many others but you would expect a 550 so I’ve removed it.

That De Ville is wonderful. I wish I was more comfortable wearing a 36mm and smaller watches. I do have a 38mm Atticus Meteora Linen that I love because it has a vintage look with a modern build that I wear fine. Who doesn't love these old Omegas?
