This is one of the nicest gold plated Geneve automatics in quite some time. Many of these have pretty rough conditioning on the plating but this is how it should be. Mint watch, highly recommended.

All the others I have seen the case and lugs are smooth, this one the top of the case and lugs are rough. Is this the way it is meant to be?

This is the original finish, they’re nearly always polished to some extent and the graining in the gold is extremely soft and easy to lose.

This ended at $527 which is the highest I’ve seen a gold plated Geneve of this type however as a calibre 565 automatic with this condition I still consider it to be a really good deal as there just aren’t many gold plated Omegas of this vintage that look anywhere near this good. I would honestly be a bit hesitant to wear it even with starched shirt cuffs given how soft that finishing is going to be and would take good care of it, maybe keeping it more as a collector piece or a special occasion watch but it’s a terrific watch.

I was following this, not because I intended to bid but because I sold an almost identical watch (mine had a 613 movement) last year for $440, which is probably in line with what these in good condition now fetch.

I’d previously offered mine on this forum for about $375 (I think) with no takers or interest)

This is actually a buy it now at $1040, which if you’re buying to own and wear is IMO completely worth it as is, but the seller is also open for offers as well. Non-luminous dial and hands with the sort of surface mount resistor dial furniture in steel, nice case, nice reference that wears a bit larger, and quite undervalued compared to piepans for the quality of watch it is.
