Yeah that's what I was thinking, put a moon case back and second hand bezel on the watch and sell it on, and you might end up with a decent bezel and case back at a bargain price
Right on. Problem is, he thinks he's got a 105.012-66 from the caseback, though I think he's also aware that it should have a 321 inside. Unless someone's just gotta have that bezel (or caseback) right now, probably best to leave it for a while until he's willing to accept <$2500 US. I think even with a new moon caseback and the lowest-priced replacement bezel you can find, you'll get less than $2k for the watch, which at this price point would still be fairly high for a nice bezel with a franken-watch attached to it
I messaged him back and told him it was either an old watch with a replacement movement and dial, or a newer watch which had an old case back on it, so he knows it's not correct. i was thinking the same - under 2.5k and it might be a good buy for someone on the lookout for a DON and 66 case back - probably cheaper than trying to buy them separately.

I'll fess, I bought that DON. I had about $75 in eBay bucks to use, so I factored that in to my bidding (bid price vs actual out of pocket). Got it a few days ago and it was actually in better condition in the metal than I expected. Even this pic of mine doesn't do it justice.

A full set 2782. I am not an expert but looks really nice, but price is steep as always. http://m.ebay.com/itm/311535358267Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
I believe it. It's quite scratched all around but nowhere so bad as to obscure any numbers. I don't think it was a bad pickup at all
Very nice 18kt white waffle dialed bumper Omega Automatic with a lovely sharp case and a cool blued second hand.
