Those lugs aren't nearly as bad as some I've seen. Not a bad price considering the condition. The caseback is in excellent shape. Wait for MSNWatch to comment, especially on the crown - I think the correct ones had 6 sides.

mac_omega is the expert with these - but the case is a bit too polished for me and the crown is incorrect.

I'd consider it but not good timing for me.

Even worse timing as he just increased the price from $2,600 to $3,600.

Wonder if he has been reading this thread....

I very much doubt it, its more likely that a half a dozen people already contacted him and offered between $2k and $2.4k for it, even before I posted it here, eBay said it had 12 watchers and 4 inquiries. I bet all four of those were offers, and if you get that many offers on a watch that's just listed, upping the price and letting them fight over it is a common result.

The Connie listed at $1100 the other day was the same, I asked him why he upped it and he said he'd had offers between $500 and $1000 for it so figured it was popular.

OK. I thought my eyes were going.

I actually was considering making an offer (or buying it outright) until the price changed.

That's the way it goes sometimes.

Although its been polished a bit it wasn't bad at $2,600, if people hadn't gotten greedy on it trying to shave more off it would have gone for that. At this point I just assume if a good or interesting watch is selling at a reasonable or good price there will be offers and if there are more than 2, whoever the seller is will let it run as an auction or up the BIN.

Yes , if I was going to go for it I would have just hit the BIN. Not worth it to hedge over $100-200. and lose it .

Everyone wants a deal though, it´s just human nature.

I´ve just caught this thread/watch after the price hitch, but had I have seen the watch earlier I could have been tempted as it looks very wearable and I love that case back.

It would have taken much more discipline than I have to hit BIN at $2600 when offers were being taken and I know I would definitely have started with an offer to test the water.

On the other hand had the case been a bit sharper.....

….. it would have been mine as soon as I saw it at $2600. 😉

I am not sure if this watch is so desirable...

back is OK , however the lugs are not crisp anymore, crown is definitely wrong.
What is more important: dial is silvered and not the beautiful butter cream (ivory) "chinese" lacquer version which is much nicer.
$2600 would have been high enough for this condition and version, I am not sure if I had bought it at this price...
maybe I am too picky...

This one has lousy photography, but underneath that scratched crystal it looks pretty good:

The buckle looks real, although it may not be original to the watch.

I saw it too - but would you risk to spend 800 bucks for this based on such lousy pictures? The blurry pics did not disclose much - but to my eyes the dial had several flaws...

I wouldn't as I honestly haven't seen enough of those to tell an original one from a redial, and as you say his pics were very ordinary but just as I was looking at it someone went and bought it.

I don't see the error with the crown. Below is from AJTT and the crown looks the same, just polished.

Here is the listed watch crown:

What are the differences?
Thanks guys!

The Seamaster crown in AJTT is faceted on two edges, Constellation crowns (on the watch in question) are only faceted on one, its not polished, they never had facets on the other edge, they are always smooth. The double faceted crowns are nearly impossible to find, which is why a similar but completely incorrect Constellation crown was substituted.
