Not a person.

Clue: the ‘Golden Age’

And I’d expect @Canuck to get this...

Darn. I wouldn’t know a Piper airplane from a Boeing 747, but there was a prominent Scottish piper named William Laurie from about the era of your clue. So I assumed I was looking at a Piper.

Good try, but nowhere close

One more hint: before diesel, and electric...

That’s right, I betcha. But will wait for @Charlemagne1333 to confirm. In 2000, we rode the steam train from Fort William to Mallaig, over the Glenfinnan viaduct. A trip to remember. That train is called the Jacobite Train. I’m shamefaced for not getting this one!😬

Probably an easy one, knowing this crowd! The answer is NOT the guys shown in the clues. The subject is a much hated 20th century fellow. Tell me his given name as you are led to by the clues, what his nickname was, and why he was famous, and despised. If you show pictures of the subject, also give his name, his nick name, what he was hated for, and what his fate was. Two clues given, neither of whom are the subject person.

William Joyce, aka Lord Haw Haw...hated (rightfully so) because he was a fascist Nazi sympathizer and convicted of high treason, executed January 3, 1946.

Good riddance.

Edit: why he was famous?..."Germany calling, Germany calling"...he was a broadcaster...And a prick, just sayin'.

(Pardon, nerves are a little raw considering what has happened today minutes down the road from my home...what a shit show!)

Joyce broadcast German propaganda to the Allied nations, perpetually touting the fact that Germany was going to beat Europe and England into a pulp, and rule the world. Even when Germany was on the brink of surrender, he kept this up! He was a U S born Briton.

Highland + Scot = Highland Scot?
