I figure it's about us (Oz) winning something, but that's as far as I can go.

How about:
The team from down under won the world cup crown
That’s mighty close
Need to solve the last clue for a complete solve

Been a while. See how fast you can identify this individual, and what this individual was famous for.

Hunterian Gallery? I just chose a “random” picture to represent the individual’s first name. Naming the specific gallery is no help. As to the breed of dog? Again, no help. I have in mind an utterance of a famous fictional dog as the first part of the last name of the individual. I could have made the third clue a LOT easier, but solving the rebus would not have been a challenge. So, no! @JimInOz is waaaaay off base for his first attempt. I’ll dole out a clue or two after the new year 😁. Maybe!

Hmmmm

Pictures in a gallery. Art?
Dog talk? Arf?

Art Arfons is as far as I can get.

I'm off to bed.

That was me too.

I had got as far as deciding that it could be David Hunter, the inventer of the vertical filing cabinet, but couldn't fit the dog in.

I'm still unsure of the answer - how does filing / file / filing cabinet relate to ons?

For the third clue, I had to choose either the “Fonz” from Happy Days, or the “fonds” which is identified in the screen grab. Choosing the Fonz would have been a dead give-away. @JimInOz got the answer Art Arfons in almost jig time.

Thank you - that rebus would rate as one of the most difficult I've seen.
