Well, that was a close finish!

@Syzygy just out in front. I didn’t think that one was particularly easy, so well played both.

    Stars all around :)

I remain impressed at the collective rebus solving abilities of those who gather here! :)

Hi all. Back from a wee sabbatical. And following a theme from the last REBUS, I hope this will have you scratching your heads at least for a few minutes...

^ stumped...this is what I see so far, but can't seem to narrow down the event.
    Landing, battle
    Of
    Elle Macpherson, super model
    Squat, Lift
    Ambulance, EMS, meat wagon

    Scratching head...

The weightlifter made me think of the Dumbbell Nebula. Can’t make it fit.

Back to the drawing board ::confused2::

Ok, this might be a stretch, but how's this...
    Invasion
    Of

Elle, Model, one helluva Body hence the nickname The Body
    Weightlifting move = Snatch
EMS here in the States...ERS in Oz

Ergo, the 'theme' being stuck with... upload_2023-1-9_14-45-19.png

I had the answer, and didn’t know it! What threw me was “the body” which was a name given to Elle McPherson, Marie MacDonald, Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe, and others. But I knew the clue was none of the latter three. The term “clean and jerk” applies to weightlifting, as does “snatch”. Two different lifts. EMS made sense to me, but not ERS, although I had considered it. Among the possibilities I checked out was “Invasion of the Body Snatchers”, but I couldn’t make my definitions of the clues fit the title.

Here’s one. Work on it! It is a saying, a sort of trade mark of an individual, long deceased. If you can show a picture of the individual, give a brief explanation of what the individual meant by it.

I'm stumped. All I can see is:

    Good night Sweetheart
    Something (gourds) something (See/spy/watch)
    Something (Infinity/Forever)
    You are.

In a word, nope! There is a “glimmer” of hope in a couple of your interpretations. But you’re waaay off on some of them.

At last. There is a glimmer of hope that I have finally assembled a rebus that wasn’t answered before the ink was dry, by the very first reply. It’s early afternoon now, in Australia. Perhaps another one of the brethren from the area will trip upon this rebus, and give it a shot.

I’m struggling with this one, too.

I think I can see ‘goodnight wherever you are’ in there. If it’s in reference to a song, it could be any number of people.

The third image looks a bit like Vera Lynn ::confused2::

Brain can't get rid of "Good Night Irene" now.

I fear the wily old Canadian fox may have got us at last.

    I'll keep trying though.

    @blubarb, any help?

Just read @Canuck ’s clue again.

Jimmy Durante. That’s all I’m saying.

I’ll show the workings if I’m not barking up the wrong tree :)
