Yeah, just looked it up. I think we had to read it in high school or somewhere in that era. Couldn't understand it so went back to proper novels by real life writers (Harold Robbins, Robert Ruark et al).
A Stone for Danny Fisher, Gold & The Carpetbaggers are still among my favourite Harold Robbins books.
