Yeah, just looked it up. I think we had to read it in high school or somewhere in that era. Couldn't understand it so went back to proper novels by real life writers 😉 (Harold Robbins, Robert Ruark et al).

A Stone for Danny Fisher, Gold & The Carpetbaggers are still among my favourite Harold Robbins books.
