Well, 24 hours are well past.
Any guesses before I have to cast more clues into the mix?

It's 11.11pm down here and gotta hit the hay. Hopefully one of you whiz types will bust this right open by the time I'm awake. Cleopatra and Mark Anthony - but I can't make it fit 😁😁

Hero and Leander

@blubarb ’s brainstorming got me thinking 😀

You beauty!!!! First class Rebus and first class solve, @Charlemagne1333 ! Well, let's wait for Jim to confirm, but yeah...that's it...has to be. I was even trying to make Orpheus and Euridice try to fit - square peg in a round hole for sure.

Great Rebus!

Great Rebus!

I was thinking along the lines of Bonnie and Clyde.

If it wasn’t for your reference to the classics, we might have been asking Jim for more clues
😕 (assuming it’s the right answer)

Pray tell! How on earth does THAT rebus translate to Hero & Leander?

Well! After Hero and Leander, the gloves are off! A tough one (I hope!) pictures of individuals amongst the clues do not figure in the answer. Name the event, the date, and the individual involved. Go for it. I’ll check back in July sometime 😗, to see if you lot have figured it out.

I know the first figure French actor), not the second.

My guess is the rebus is something to do with the first European to record sighting North America.

But I could be completely wrong.

@JimInOz ,

As far as you have gone, you are correct. You've named the event, but you need to work on the WHO, and the WHEN! With Jim’s help, anybody else?

John Cabot-1497

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Cabot

I just tidied up some loose ends with google image search, so this one is @JimInOz ’s 👍

Between @JimInOz & @Charlemagne1333 , (henceforth known as the “tag team”), John Cabot, June 24, 1497, is the answer I was after. Nobody got the date of June 24, the day he purportedly saw Newfoundland. I believe it was he who commented that the codfish were so plentiful, you could walk to shore on their backs. “First European”? I believe the Vikings beat Cabot by several centuries. Anyway. I still need to find a “tough” one!

The Roman forum (though I get the feeling this has been answered already!)
Yep, in @JimInOz ’s usual way, so as to allow others to cogitate how the clues fit the answer.

You should have an honourable mention, though, @Canuck for telling us the written answer.
