A correction. My apologies! This was not a movie. It was a television series.

No. Did you see my post that the answer I’m after is the name, not of a movie (my mistake), but a television series. I need the name of the series, and that will give you the name of the person Carlson was portraying.

I see. My logic here: Mackenzie's Raiders was a television series (1958-59) and that Carlson was portraying MacKenzie. Obviously wrong TV series.

I Led 3 Lives was another TV series he starred in and he played Herbert A. Philbrick undercover FBI agent.

I am trying to assimilate the clue of the black mole and finger pointing at it...I bet it's one of those "I could kick myself" moments when it's revealed.

...anyone?

I reckon you've already solved it @blubarb . Herbert A. Philbrick was an FBI mole (infiltrating the communist party).

I Led Three Lives is indeed the series! Herbert Philbrick is indeed the guy that Carlson portrayed. Philbrick performed the role of a MOLE in the Communist Party! To both @blubarb and @Charlemagne1333 for piecing together the rebus. Ya done good! Special mention to @TasMike for summing the thing up!

Maybe I’m a bit slow, but I just do not understand the answer to the James Joyce rebus!

I think this may put you out to sea with some difficulty.

It's a "thing" and it's both natural and man made - depending on definition. 😀
