I don't think it's mars though. I think it's a reference to the sun or a sunspot.

Hmmm...ficus carica = long neck fig.

"The Great Fire of London" by chance? Don't see how Peter Falk/Colombo could ever fit though. Just thought I would throw it out there before retiring for my afternoon nanna nap. 😁😗
