Aye, it's a bonnie wee dog.
😉

Let's leave this one for the beginners.

@JimInOz appears to have nailed the breed of dog, and it wouldn’t surprise me if he was sitting on his hands, refraining from answering the rest of the rebus .

A two clue rebus. Name the statesman, who was he, his name, his title, the breed of dog, dog’s name, and why he was famous. The first clue helps you determine who the statesman was.

Ok...the beginner can't resist...

FDR - President Franklin Delano Roosevelt (in the wheel chair) Famous as the 32nd President of the United States of America (1933-45) and became known for the NEW DEAL (I & II) and died young at 63 from a brain haemorrhage (Wikipedia is my friend here). His dog was named Fala a Scottish Terrier.

😁😁::rimshot::

ps. Was lucky enough to visit DC just before the Covid pandemic took hold and luckily got to visit many monuments including the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial.

Figure this one out and you belong on a pedestal. A picture and a name, and the background story. The person shown in the clue is not the answer.

Bobby
Fischer/chess/champion Bobby fischer

Solution: Greyfriars Bobby

Background (with help of Google) Bobby was a faithful Skye Terrier, believed to be owned by the night watchman John Grey. It is said that he sat for fourteen years guarding the grave of his owner until he died on the 14 January 1872.

Ps. Pedestal was a great clue. Hair was a good red herring.

@blubarb aced this one! Greyfriars Bobby. I have uploaded a picture of the statue dedicated to Bobby, the Skye terrier which stands, today, in Edinburgh, in the square outside the Greyfriars Bobby Bar. There might be some truth to the story, but also some legend. A book has been written about Bobby, as well as Disney made a movie.

The Executioner's Song by Norman Mailer

Years ago I picked up a copy at the airport on the way to Malaysia figuring it would be a good read.
It was hard going, don't think I got to the end.

Answer: ZZ Top - Thunderbird (1975)

Wikipedia fun fact: The Nightcaps sued ZZ Top for, among other things, copyright infringement, but their claims were dismissed because, in part, ZZ Top had registered a copyright on the song in 1975.

Your almost there. It’s not Thunderbird, but the name of an album. 👎

Credit for the upload, though.
