Spot on with the person, and vessel @Canuck , but not Tahiti.
You might want to ‘study’ the last two images a bit closer...
Canuck deserves the credit...location is Botany Bay

Certainly on the right track. I should add that I am an American and we call petrol by another name.

Quite a few. I highly recommend this book:

Another fun fact, Darwin's work on earthworm behavior is still cutting edge. You can learn that and more than you ever wanted to know about earthworms here:

Well done! I had in mind a much tougher one, but it is Canadian history, and not likely very welcome.

Try this, anyway. I first in Canadian history.

Sinking
Hudson Bay
Biber - Beaver
Vancouver

Sinking of the Hudson Bay Company steamship "Beaver" near Vancouver.

I think the Vancouver photo was taken from Burnaby Mountain, I have a similar one somewhere in my Canada holiday pics.

The Hudson’s Bay steamship Beaver was the fist steamship in the area of Vancouver, B C. A drunken crew ran her aground in Burrard Inlet, and it subsided into the water. But not completely. Vandals stripped of anything they could salvage, then years later, the wake from a large ship passing by, finished the job. Well done @JimInOz . I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that someone on an international forum sch as this, could identify an obscure historical Canadian event.
