I’m getting a real brain fog at the moment. I think I need a beer, or three...

Reach/stretch/train?
78?
Gopher?
Sky/skies/scope?

Reach for the Sky?
I can see that some help will be necessary on this one. The first two clues represent one ELEMENT. That is not a gopher.

More thought on this required, then...

In the meantime, it’s this chap’s birthday, today. Unfortunately, he won’t be celebrating it...

aside from Platinum and potentially Oxygen...if that's not a gopher, I don't know what a gopher is. will need to spend some time with this one, or, walk away and look at it later!

Okay then. Gopher, ground squirrel, Richardson ground squirrel. It is not one of those. There are 13 synonyms for “gopher”, one of which is the critter in the clue. It is a pocket gopher. No more clues for the time being, except to say again, that the answer is the title of another thread currently in this forum.

Nice...lunge + platinum + pocket gopher + watch = Longines Platinum pocketwatch. Well done @Charlemagne1333 !

PT (physical training, or PT for platinum)
78 (atomic number for platinum)
(PT 78 MEANS PLATINUM)
POCKET
(pocket gopher, or MOLE)
WATCH (as in star gaze)

You came to the answer by circuitous means, but you deserve to see what the star gazers saw!

I worked up an appetite trying to solve that one! What’s for dinner?
