@ConElPueblo Fair enough! I know identity theft is a real concern in the U.S. ...just didn't know it was really even a thing in Denmark. I can understand if they wanted your NemID login or something... but, well. Principles and sticking to them can also be a good thing! ...even better than a sweet place to stay.

Wish you a great trip to a great city – Churchill famously said of the RAF "Never was so much owed by so many to so few". And he was right. But the same could be said of London, and the remarkable resilience and sacrifice of her inhabitants.

Enjoy the calm and carrying on.

Leaving LDN today, seems unseasonably warmer than expected most days. Only needed a very light fleece one late night stroll. Enjoy

You should have told me mate - we could have caught a hockey game and a beer! 😉

Speaking as a Londoner, if your budget allows, aim for Covent Garden. Handy for everything in Central London, and you can walk just about anywhere in London from there. Great for theatres, ballet, opera, restaurants and bars (even Austin Kaye) and safe for a gently intoxicated amble home.
Anywhere else in London is a short hop by bus, tube, cab or Uber (if they win their appeal)

This could work

That's a fakkin Womble @Matty01! They live on Wimbledon Common! That's no good mate... Wimbledon is a 'well pricey' area of South West London. When I lived there I used to rent rooms out during the Tennis Championship. I Couldn't afford to live there now.

Thanks for all the great advice 👍

I only a few hours ago realised that I had made the same error which I always point out in "Is this a good deal..?" threads, namely that I hadn't mentioned a price 🤦
We expect to spend around £350 for three nights which rules out a few of the, otherwise brilliant, suggestions. My girlfriend is pregnant at the moment which is why we'd rather stay reasonably central, as we could go back to the room for an afternoon nap if required. I'm looking at some of the suggestions now and hope to book something this weekend. AirBnb is a good option, but the requirement of scanning ID with full social security numbers is a major turn-off. I cannot believe that they demand something which is illegal where I live and don't seem to realise it.

No advice I can give for London, but regarding traveling with a pregnant SO, have a lot of clean bathrooms planned out along your route. My wife and I travelled to Japan when she was pregnant, but the amazing thing about Japan is that 99% of the bathrooms everywhere where always clean!

Cheers for all the advice folks 😀

We've settled on Lancaster Gate Hotel and now look forward to freezing our behinds off in gloomy, wet London 😁

Lancaster Gate is a great location, right next to Hyde Park, and close to everything...

I can recommend 'The Penn Club' off Russell Sq, near Euston .....Right in the centre of Bloomsbury, close to British Museum & British Library

Quaker owned, and run as 'not for profit' www.Pennclub.co.uk

Fantastic breakfasts !!

I honestly have no idea about price as it was booked for me (work trip) but I remember enjoying the Apex Hotel London Wall. Boutique styling, modern, good location. Hope you have a nice trip - it's a fantastic city.
The hotel is nice but you will have to use the underground .

P.S. I've also had good experiences locating and booking via Booking.com – and really horrible ones with Expedia.
Booking.com is my preferred site as well. Usually check the reviews on Tripadvisor as well, especially from Americans...they are very fussy and demand high quality...

Actually, there's a bus stop on Bayswater Road (turn right out of the hotel, left and left again) which is closer than either Queensway or Lancaster Gate tubes. The 94 bus will take you along Oxford Street and Regent Street to Piccadilly Circus. Going the other way it goes to Notting Hill. I used to get this bus every day. There's also a very historic pub called The Swan on Bayswater Road very close to the hotel..

We liked the Millenium Gloucester near Kensington during our stay in August. Also found this during our visit to the Science Museum:

Hard-to-miss Speedy:

Sorry for the iPhone quality.
