Really disappointed with service at Omega boutique.

Leatherman as well. I lost the tiny spring that holds the screwdriver bit in its holder so I emailed Leatherman to ask if I could buy a replacement spring. Their reply was, "We don't supply that part, but if you send us the tool we'll send you a new one" ...and that's what happened. I originally bought the tool 10 years ago.

This reminds me of something. Sears used to have a lifetime warranty for Craftsman tools, maybe they still do. Once in the lab we needed to get a wrench into a tight place to disassemble a very expensive piece of equipment. We didn't have a short handled wrench, so we took a wrench from our Craftsman set and cut off the end in the shop.

Afterwards, we wanted to replace that wrench to make the set complete and tried to order it from Sears. When we told them the story they said they would just send us a replacement for the broken wrench. We tried to explain that we deliberately cut the wrench in half, but they just said "the wrench is broken, right? We replace any broken tool." So we just said OK.

Sadly one Edward Lampert destroyed a great company. I doubt they still do that.

Craftsman is now owned by Stanley Black & Decker and I believe they still have a lifetime warranty on their basic tools so if your tool breaks you can take it to any Craftsman retailer (Ace, Lowe's, etc) and they will replace it. Specialty tools like torque wrenches and calipers aren't included.

Man, I should have done that when after 6 months the blade snapped in half.

No offense but if I was the AD I wouldn't it in from you either. Your OCD is going to find more issues sooner than later

Man! seriously!!

no defect, it is perfect, don't just refer to Omega photos as they are full made with photoshop.

and FYI, Omegas off-line is common , even the watches are directly from the factory.

so be happy with this, instead of fixing and becomes more off-line 😉

cheers

OP is long gone, what a surprise, but anyway...

IMO its not wrong to expect a watch without these issues, but its impossible to expect 100% of what comes off the line and passes QC to be perfect.

If anyone is OCD like the OP then you better go to a physical store to buy these things so you can inspect watches until you find one thats up to your own personal spec. Buying online from a gray dealer for a discount and then expecting a boutique to go out of their way to help you is laughable.

Buying from a physical store won't solve OP's OCD, he will take his watch home and subject it to ever more inspection and will find a minor issue 'requiring' him to take it back for correction. His reasoning is that since he is spending $6,000 he should expect perfection. We see it all the time here on OF.

Probably true, but people who expect perfection should at least try to buy in store instead of completely blind.

I just checked mine, and it is clearly out of line too!

No wait, just looked again and now it is wonky in the other direction:

That's it, this POS is going back.

I get the impression that the OP thought this MB was sponsored by Omega, and that we would be able to solve his problem for him! His most recent post in this thread appears to be six days ago. He appears to be one of “those” who carry a variety of loupes with them, and higher magnification will always identify things to be unhappy about! Some people would kick, even if they didn’t have legs!

Nordstrom in the US was famous for giving refunds for merchandise that was well used, not bought at the store or even stocked by Nordstrom. I think they finally woke up and figured out they were constantly being duped by a dishonest public.

so the story of them replacing tires… the person replacing them has the last name of Nordstrom.

they quietly stopped this a few decades back, but still have a very generous return policy.

For awhile lots of stuff was disappearing from Los Angeles stores and being returned in Orange County.

There is now a system in place to stop this. Which unfortunately I cannot divulge in a public forum but is quite hilariously simple.

It seems like RFI would solve this issue, or a separate set of SKUs applied in store, which would effectively allow them to say it wasn't in their catalog... but that would take a lot of person-hours.

Same with Le Creuset. I contacted them to say my espresso cup had cracked and they just sent me a new one. I’ve heard of people having casserole dishes for years and getting a new one for free when the old one failed in some way

AllClad did the same for me with a frying pan that warped.

No doubt! A friend of mine who used to be a professional chef reached out to Le Creuset because he was hoping to replace a chipped Dutch oven and was hoping they would be able to work a deal with him and they just sent him a new one at no charge. I own a number of Le Creuset pieces and haven't ever used their return policy but who knows, maybe someday I will!

It’s a good tactic if affordable - I now go them first for utensils etc as their service was so good.
