Recently purchased this Aqua Terra 2503.33.00 online from a well known online dealer I have used before but having some reservations- not only was the listing odd in that this dealer had 7-8 identical listings using the exact same pictures for each, each were priced differently. I chatted with a representative outside of business hours that could not explain the difference in each- but I went ahead and purchased this one as it was just priced too good to let go. It was advertised as less box and papers but understandable as it’s a discontinued model. I Asked to be contacted before processing to discuss the “differences” and never heard back. A week later and several emails/texts that were never responded to I had to call. The representative acknowledged my order and put me on hold for several minutes- when he returned I was told my order had been ‘overlooked’ and would ship out that afternoon. Received it 2 days later and immediately got a bad feeling. Looks to be Brand new and unworn, but several things don’t seem right compared to the other Omega watches I have. (I will say this is the first seamaster and coaxial I’ve owned so it may be all just my inexperience.) First- when initially setting the watch and winding from a dead state it felt very “weak” or lacking as it didn’t seem to have any back pressure. Next the watch doesn’t seem to start unless shaken for several seconds- and the rotor is not near as active or free as my other movements (Have to intentionally shake your wrist to hear it moving.) Lastly it doesn’t appear to be the quality I’d expect when looking at the case back/movement under a scope but I do know these are mass production models vs the other limited editions I’ve had before.

Long story long- I’ve worn it for 24 hours now - it is keeping accurate time- it looks the part and I’m pleased with the fit- just wanted a second opinion on if I ever deal with the retailer again. Thanks in advance for any help.

Was the seller from Japan?

Pictures are tough to judge a little because of saturation, but it seems as best I can tell to match the ones here: https://omegaforums.net/threads/aqua-terra-2503-33-00-review-2500c-movement.17174/ . MUCH better looking watch than in your pictures in that thread 😁 I see nothing suspicious.

One thing that IS interesting is that the 3 oclock marker doesn't match the one on Omega's picture!

I wonder if the dial changed along the way, or if their picture is wrong?

As far as crown effort: the tolerances between the pieces in the watch are so absurd that even Rolex/Omega/Patek/etc are ALL over the place with crown effort/resistance.

As far as the start/rotor: THAT sounds like a lubrication issue. IMO, you could very likely be in need of a service. Might be worth putting it on a coaxial-compatible timegrapher (sadly the common ones don't work for coax movements!) and seeing how the amplitude looks. That might be very telling.

That said, the lubrication could 'work itself out' after a bit of running in.

THIS confirms for me about 99% real. Fakers basically NEVER get the serial numbers right. You can order a 'custom' serial number from the fakers sometimes (for a lot of money is my understanding), but someone would have to try a lot to get that right.

Looks genuine and to be a great example.

Mine doesn’t have much resistance when wound, especially from dead, granted mine is probably 20 years old now and hasn’t had a service. Still runs like a top though.

From what I’ve seen, there isn’t a replica of this model that is even quarter decent so I wouldn’t worry too much about getting a counterfeit.
