This may sound dumb, but do you wear it in your front pants pocket? If so, do you ever worry that the creasing of the pocket, when sitting down or crouching, may damage the pocket watch? Or is this an inner breast pocket only type deal? I have never worn a pocket watch but I’d like to. I know that some people have the chains attached but if you don't have a waist coat, what do you do? A button shirt top pocket seems unreliable (if you bend down and it falls out). Okay if you got a jacket with an inner pocket, that seems reliable, maybe outer pockets too but would you consider it risky to put your pocket watch loose in your pants pocket?
I wear my watches in the watch pocket of my jeans. I buy Wranglers because they still make a watch pocket large enough for an 18s watch. I use a leather lanyard to attach my watch to my belt.

In the winter I'll sometimes wear a vest and use an Albert chain.

Well in my case I only wear jeans or moleskins, and they always have that little extra pocket on the front right hand side, that is actually intended and designed for pocket watches....... that's the whole point of that pockets existance.

Wow, I always thought this was originally meant for coins but I googled it and you're right, it was originally intended for pocket watches apparently, and was just later repurposed (and made smaller) for coins when pocket watches became anachronistic. TIL!

That said, the true best use of that pocket is for the first generation iPod Nano. 😜

That's no wonder it's been nicknamed "the pizza", as you kinda feel you're wearing one on your wrist. 😁

I'm wearing an 18s Hamilton today on my @DaveK lanyard. As you can see it easily fits in the pocket of my Wranglers. I buy the 13MWZPW due to the generous size of the watch pocket.

Anything between 36 to 41 mm is the sweet spot IMO. That being said, I have many vintage watches that are 34 mm, one that is 33.5 mm and my Speedmaster, which as my friend JWRosenthal would say "wears like a dinner plate," is 42 mm, but that's as large as I will go.
