Razor sharp edges on the new Speedy??

Yep, finally got it. After doing a lot of reading before I got it on this forum, a close examination and comparison with my 1861 was revealing. It is my impression that Omega upped the standards, I find the overall polish, attention to detail and finishing somewhat superior to the previous edition, I was pleased at what I found. It is also easier to wind. As much as I like the applied logo, it's almost a wasted effort being hidden behind the seconds hand most of the time, still a nice touch. The new case design is subtle, refined and IMHO, elegant.
...but here is the big question! Is it "razor sharp"? 馃榾. I don't feel any sharpness when on my wrist...

No, no perception of sharpness on the wrist, actually quite comfortable. The new case design is a bit more defined and very "crisp" but certainly not uncomfortable, at least to me. The attention to detail as far as the brushing, polish and bevels is excellent. It's an Omega, not a Gillette.........

Non essential stores will open up to the public from April 12 2021 here in the UK. I can't wait to try this new speedy and find out if indeed all the batches are as smooth as silk on the wrist or a Gillette razor blade in disguise. On the otherhand my Tokyo 2020 speedy case is very refined.

Well I had the hesalite 3861 when it was released and my first impressions were a little disappointing. Where the bracelet links connected to the watch were very stiff and there was indeed some sharp edges on the watch. Once the watch was worn they didn't bother me but I will admit that it felt nothing quality wise compared to my Rolex watches although costing a lot of money.

Anyway I had some issues with the watch where upon when using the stopwatch it would get to 3 seconds and then the whole watch would stop working until the start/stop chrono button was pressed again (only happened 4 times in my ownership of 4 weeks). The AD were amazing and said that they had not heard of any issues of this nature but offered to replace the watch (I had video recorded one of the stopped chrono incidents as proof but my word was good enough for the SA). Said it would be a couple of days to get a new one in but they did have a sapphire sandwich 3861 model in stock. I had a look at it and to my surprise, no sharp edges and was way more comfortable. I paid the difference and walked away with the watch.

Now I'm not here to create a storm but there was a difference between the watches in both feel and finish. Both were bought new and from AD (although the first one was delivered to my house) so perhaps the initial models weren't quite up to the required standard? or maybe its just a small batch that have the problem, but there definitely is a issue with some watches. Had I not had a mechanical issue I would have kept the watch and been none the wiser, the difference might be small but sometimes thats enough to affect the ownership experience.

Went to see the 2021 hesalite in an OB in search of my first chronograph. Looked great and did not impress me as uncomfortably sharp to wear or touch. However, I ended up buying another diver instead (PO white dial orange bezel 43.5). Still don鈥檛 have a chronograph but now a I am up to ten divers...

The video showing how to buff off the edges was extremely helpful thanks. My 3861 was missing some lume but I soon sorted that out with tippex. The applied logo also fell off but a few drops of superglue were all that was needed to put it back in approximately the right position. I really don鈥檛 understand why some people are so fussy.

What? Are you serious? Missing lume and logo falling off??? Why not take it in for warranty repair? Come on now. I call BS.

What鈥檚 the point of this hobby if you don鈥檛 enjoy doing a bit of basic maintenance?

Your timing is impeccable, luckily the lack of a date complication hindered you not........

Any news on this subject? Heard the edges of the new Chronoscope feel less sharp. Is it true? Does it mean, newer batches of the Moonwatch will feel different compared to the one I bought last year?

My new 3861 is sharp, but it doesn't cut my skin or anything. I have zero issues with it and it is very comfortable! Attaching a lume shot for fun! 馃榾
Yes the lume is outstanding on this.

The case of my 3861 Speedy is about as sharp as my Rolex Sub 114060, which is sharper than the outgoing 1861 Speedy but nothing close to razor sharp. I think the more proper word to use here is "crisp" in terms of machining of the case.

The lume is noticeably better than it was on the 1861 model.

Lume better. Bracelet better. Slight increase in price from technologically-outdated 1861.

Game, set and match.

this brings back memories of folks who shave their wrist in order to avoid hairs being caught between the parts of stretchable bracelets 馃榿
