Well ... I'm disappointed that the new Speedmaster isn't proving to be so sharp. I was planning to get one to compliment the vintage razors around here and so I could lather up and shave with it.

Hmmm... this is an odd one... I always see sale posts of used/vintage Speedmasters that specifically showcase when the "case lines are sharp." So Im confused why people would not want that in a new one? Or is is only for vintage watches when we want a sharp case... but for new ones we want rounded smooth ones? 😲

There is no issue here. You have to take the guy who makes these ridiculous videos (sorry if there are any worthwhile ones, all 3 I have seen have been cringeworthy) with a teaspoon of salt, a wineglass of tequila, and preferably in a big bubble bath (followed by pink fluffy slippers, a pink fluffy gown and your favorite lingerie) 😵‍💫

Cringeworthy is apt. I know there is a lot of love for his channel, but I can't even get through most that I have attempted to watch and I love watching You Tube videos of watch related content.

Hi, one more new owner here, had it for a few days now. The case does have a few sharp edges, but I would not have noticed that if not for all the chatter—they don’t touch you when wearing it, I had to specifically look to find them. The bracelet pulled out a few arm hairs until properly sized. Now that it is, it is very comfortable, I have no problem recommending. Really, my only complaint would be lack of a more adjustable clasp, that would be a nice addition for every watch that doesn’t have one.

My take-away from this thread is if you recently increased your life insurance, and your wife gifts you a new 3861 Speedmaster, DO NOT put it on...

My new 3861 is sharp, but it doesn't cut my skin or anything. I have zero issues with it and it is very comfortable! Attaching a lume shot for fun! 😀
WOW THAT LUME IS CRAZY

Well, the 3861 IS supposed to be "cutting edge" in the horological world, all this excitement, I'm feeling the need....., the need for Speed(master) Still waiting for the call from my AD, damm, I need to actually have one for a real, valid opinion. My 1861 Speedmaster just isn't relevant anymore due to it's lack of edgy-ness. Hopefully he'll call soon so I can share the pain.

i saw his earlier video when he first got the watch and said there wasn’t an issue with sharp edges. Then I saw he posted this video and I laughed. Is it really a non issue if someone is willing to buff off edges?

Different guy, but this guy using his wife’s nail file to blunt the edge seems to validate the claim that Omega’s quality control people might be on sick leave or wearing gloves at work.

I'm a viewer of the channel. In general the creator of the channel is a straight shooter who has nothing to gain and everything to lose by badmouthing Omega and ruining his already established and good relationship with this AD. Maybe he just tried out some in a bad batch, maybe it's been fixed moving forward, but I do believe he experienced what he said.

Well, just got a call from my AD, my 3861 Sapphire has arrived, will be picking it up next Tuesday 3/30. They'll size the bracelet for me but I also still have the tan leather 20/18 deployant strap I bought for my 1861, as well as the Omega Velcro Speedmaster strap, probably will try the bracelet for a week or so and see how it goes. I'm trading the 1861, so I'll see how they feel in comparison, in any case, next Tuesday is MY Speedy Tuesday finally!
I'll have to post some pictures and update my Avatar.

Well, enough complaining about that razor-sharp case. Just putting it to work on some irksome household tasks...

I'm heading into my AD this week to have a look at the sapphire model. Going to wear my gauntlets just in case.

Well, made the trip today and picked up my Sapphire Speedy. Initial impressions, it's much more comfortable on the wrist and is definitely thinner. Tried to make some shots with the tablet, kinda dicey, but here's one, also updated my avatar. Going to daily wear on the bracelet for a time, then try the deployant strap.

Congrats Phil F. I know you have been deliberating and waiting. Glad you finally have one. And yes, they do wear thinner, right? Such a good thing. I find the bracelet extremely comfortable personally. I have not worn another watch since purchasing mine with the exception fo putting on my SKX for a short time while doing some work that might otherwise bang up my Speedmaster unnecessarily.

Yep, finally got it. After doing a lot of reading before I got it on this forum, a close examination and comparison with my 1861 was revealing. It is my impression that Omega upped the standards, I find the overall polish, attention to detail and finishing somewhat superior to the previous edition, I was pleased at what I found. It is also easier to wind. As much as I like the applied logo, it's almost a wasted effort being hidden behind the seconds hand most of the time, still a nice touch. The new case design is subtle, refined and IMHO, elegant.
