Is it normal for Omega to ask what blood type you are before handing you a watch?
I can't speak about the Rolex Explorer, but all the dive watches I've handled (5 digit, 6 digit subs, SD4000) all have sharp edges. That includes the undersides of the case and the middle of the clasp (that raised stripe). Again, AP Royal Oaks have very sharp/crisp edges. I think it is done on purpose and not a missed finishing step.
The case is a complete departure in regards to the sharpness of the edges. Maybe you don鈥檛 have a new 1861 watch to compare it to, or your watch has better/different finishing.
The difference isn鈥檛 small, lots of folks have noticed this.
I don鈥檛 think it鈥檚 an issue in regards to comfort while wearing the watch, but it certainly has a markedly different feel to it vs. nearly ever other omega (including other speedmasters) or other similar mechanical watches (rolex, tudor, breitling, vacheron, etc).

neat. A little bit disappointed it wasn't able to draw any blood or slice my wrist, but oh well...
