Longines Ref. 7823-15 with cal. 847.3. According to Longines, this one was invoiced to the company "Chronostyle", who were their agent in Romania at that time. I checked, and the company still exists and is still a Longines partner.

So, this one has been once around the world, manufactured in Switzerland, sold in Romania, and somehow ended up in Japan, where I bought it. Now it is in Germany, where I had it serviced, and it is now running really well (as in, modern-day COSC spec - these Longines calibers were really amazing quality).

Apparently, the ref. 7823 was made in a lot of different versions, with colourful dials, roman numerals ect. - so I'm including a page from a Japanese catalogue showing two other versions (on the bottom right). One could start building a collection with just this model...

A recent pickup: 5.69M serial cal 37.9. Based on the pendant hallmark (case is SS), delivered to Portugal? We’ll see if Longines can confirm.

Bonklip looks great on that.

Thanks! I had to file it a bit but it was worth it.

I note the original post allowed for modern stuff so indulge me. Longines Spirit 40mm pilots watch. Great tool watch of the kind Omega have sadly moved away from selling. 70 hour reserve, anti-mag development of the 2892 with free sprung balance ie just as good as the in house 8500 or 8600 on paper. These are available for not too much more than £1k if you shop about. Also available in black if silver isn’t your thing, but the silver is done well with some nice textured dial touches.

I guess if Ash hasn’t bought a Longines after over 10 years of asking for ideas he never will!

Just finished servicing a friend's Longines (which originally belonged to his grandfather).
19A movement, solid gold American case (69-162-3-A). Longines dates it to 1960.
