I just had to have a 36000 bph Ultra-Chron! This one's an 8353 chronometer with the 431 movement and the gold-fringed rotor, probably from 1969. Interestingly, later versions had exactly the same case, dial and hands but were fitted with the lower-beat 6651 movement instead of the 431.

I just love the two-level / two-toned dial - depending on the angle of the light the border either blends into the central part of the dial or jumps out.

Incidentally, I had a "duh!" moment when I first started looking at these 431 watches. Some have the date window between 4 and 5 (which I sort of like because it's quirky), others have it at the more conventional 9 O'Clock position. Must be a slightly different movement surely..? 😁😁

(Obviously it doesn't matter where you put the window with respect to the date dial, you just need to set it right..)

I Have a Longines…
My wife’s grandfather passed it on to her. So it has sentimental value. I don’t know the year of manufacture though.

Tiny, ugly, lovely ! With wrong 1940 cal. 27.O instead of original 12.68z.
That’s really interesting!
