Please help me evaluate this omega 168010?

Hello, i am quite new to the vintage watch world. Recently i saw my friend wear his vintage omega constellation and i was totally captivated by it. I began to look through a lot of sales on ebay and other website As i am scrolling through the list i stumble apon this one. It is posted as an Omega Constellation year 1966 Automatic with the dial 35 mm. The price is listed at 1k$. But as i compare the ref. No. through the omega website, the picture they have is not of a pan-pie dial style. Do i assume it is a re-dial, eventhough it looked quite old? Please help.

As far ad I know, there could be both dials, pie-pan and not-pie-pan.
Usually, reference number refers to the shape of the case, while dials can vary a lot.

Well, I am certainly not an expert, but sure it is authentic. BTW movement 564 is excellent and has a quick data set by pulling the crown.
If your question is more about the dial having been reprinted, I don"t know. The writings below Omega are very neat, compared to the rest of the dial; on the other side, the writing looks perfect.
Let's wait for some expert advice.

The dials is IMO original, but a mixture between patina and water-damage (at least between 12 and 4)

always edit the pictures!

I would continue to search for a better example. The damage to the dial can’t be undone.

May i ask how do you specifically identify the dial as IMO original? it is what i fear the most as i am looking for a good vintage piece.

simple and opposite answer: Would anyone "restore" / redial this dial this way? (But there are many other evidences 😉 )

One piece of good advice as you search references is to add omegaforum to get results from the site.

168.010 omegaforum
brings you several topics with pictures and you can quickly see some piepan dials

There is so much stuff on OF that you can easily find a few threads with your reference covered.

The watch you posted has a number of problems as pointed out above.
Plus the case is really quite soft.

This reference of watch is less in demand than say a dogleg or lyre lug Constellation so they are still good value.

If you like this style, also consider its predecessor the 168.004.

Here is a selection of 168.010s both dome dial and pie pan.
Look at the lugs and bezel on the enlarged watch photo, this shows the shape they should be

Probably not the reply you want, but IMO you should spend more and get a better quality dial. My own personal rule is to buy the best possible vintage, as the price is worth it long term. For example, my constellation:

Did it cost more than $1000? Sure, but the pleasure I get from wearing it is worth it. Also, I know I'll be able to give this to my son, and it'll probably be worth a small fortune at that point in time, whereas a bashed up dial now won't be worth much.
