I am cheating a bit because the year if half over. But a few of my collecting goals are:

1. Have @Archer teach me how to fix an old Seamaster
2. Buy an Ed White (completed... but currently still getting restored)
3. Get my collection down to 12 + an Apple Watch (slowly working toward this goal)
4. Build a Speedmaster big box watch case (DONE!)
5. Buy a GMT (likely not happening this year)
6. Make a few new watch friends (definitely done, but always room for one more)
7. Learn a bit more about watches (ongoing)
8. Grab a beer at Hooters with @Mad Dog (likely going to happen someday)

Ultimately, like most people I’d like to improve my collection. For me that requires downsizing from the craziness that I originally fell victim too. I am slowly learning about what I enjoy wearing and want to collect (turns out this is a big deal).

1. Fill a 6 watch box with significantly cool vintage watches in pristine condition.
halfway there: Carrera, Airman, Lemania
2. Fill a 6 watch box with significantly cool wearable beaters.
my challenge here is the 'significantly cool' part. I'm up to a '59 18k Seamaster and a Khaki Mechanical
3. Put a Speedmaster in one of those boxes
4. Put a diver in box 2. Probably a Seiko.
5. Sell a watch on ebay. I have the perfect Omega redial for this

beyond 2019:
Rolex steel sports (said in AC3 voice)
Sell a watch on OF. This is a daunting task for me because anything worth selling here is a watch I want to keep. I guess it'll have to wait until I get to the one-in-one-out stage

One and one goal only:
AP 14790ST in Yves Klein blue dial 37mm.

I will only look at 36-38mm watches in 2019/2020.

Gimme budget and I'll give you a good plan 😁 ... no, joking aside - I'll stop hunting for a while. As mentioned above there are some upcoming services.

I am in the market for my first Omega, but have really struggled with my choices given the budge:
1. Budget is in the $3,000-$6,000 depending on the watch
2. I love the moonwatch, but wish there were a date, and I love the Mark II, but my wife doesn't
3. I'm skeptical about buying a used watch as my first Omega, but there seem to be some good deals out there
4. If I want a new watch, it appears the grey market is really my only option to get the best bang for my buck.
5. I also absolutely love the moonphase watches from Omega, but they appear to be outside of my price range as things stand, unless I get very used.

Anyways, I'm really excited to settle on something, but right now I feel a bit paralyzed by the whole process.

Sounds like a "Planet Ocean" might be a potential candidate 😉

Should find a Chronograph Planet Ocean for that money.
You get the function of the moonwatch, a date window with a fine workhorse movement.
Not sure if the newer ones come with the micro adjustment clasp which is fantastic.

This is funny to see this...

I am still selling my low end pieces...and have procured pieces I never thought in a million years I’d own.
And then this happens...

Not quite at one in - one out, but I plan on adding a keystone watch (AP RO) and maybe moving an Omega out. Started off as a brand loyal Omega guy and slowly moving into other brands.

Sell some lower end pieces, and enjoy my collection.
Haha. I'm re-reading this thread. This shows plans can change!

no more, maintain what I've got.

its already to the point where I can't decide some days, who needs more.

Yeah, I know, famous last words...

My 4-point plan for 2019:

1. Buy my first GMT,
2. Buy the Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Speedmaster … if doable - DONE
3. Upgrade my 145.012-67 to - or just buy - a "Sp101 Good" 105.012-65,
4. Change any part of the above plan as necessitated if anything really interesting shows up in the Sales section 😁

Quick update ... #2 is completed on Speedy Tuesday 9/24/19.

For some reason I have changed to a more budget type of watch. I have been buying Oris, Lum-Tec and Christopher Ward. I find them very pleasing. Also 5 of my watches are bronze. Like this one. Sorry for the quality of the photo.

Because I've bought a house I can't buy anything now for the rest of 2019.
But, in 2020... maybe these:
1. Heuer Camaro V92 dark dial (if the prices have not risen more) (got offer in OF, but the price was too high, but top condition though).
2. Buy transitional 68 Speedmaster (or 145.012), but the prices keep climbing and my wallet is behind.
3. Heuer CS3111 if I can't find a nice Camaro.
4. Citizen bullhead octagonal chronograph ref 67-9356 in top condition.
5. Zenith El Primero (A385 or modern).
... and there are so many more...

Ok guys. I think I'm done for the year. The new floor on the house was a bit expensive so I think it's all good for 2019. It was an interesting year. Sold almost all my 120's and a couple of other pieces. But I think I did fine with my new ones. My top 10 for 2019 starting with 10.
