I have my eyes on a PO. 2500 - 42mm. I love that watch.

Same, but I haven鈥檛 yet decided between the 2500 42mm or the 39.5M newer model.

I am about to turn 30 in May, and have been looking at watches for around 4-5 years for my and my first "big" watch purchase.
So far in my life, I've ever only worn local brands and some gifted emporio armani or similar fashion brand watches.

I remember liking the feeling of metal on my arm. Ever since the introduction of the Apple Watch, I've been wearing just that, but I feel the Apple Watch is something I wear in daily life and it works as my daily assistant..

Now it is time for me to buy a watch, that I can use on weekends, on special occasions or when I want to feel free from the constant information of the Apple Watch.

I have saved enough to buy either of the 3 watches below - each in their own price category, each with their own history, pros and cons, designs etc.

Most importantly, it will be a watch I will buy, to keep, forever. I want something that I will be happy about for many, many years. Therefore, logically, I should not care about value retention, but for some reason, it still haunts me a bit from time to time. Availabilty is also something to consider, as I fear that the second option would be very tough to get my hands on, and the third option as well. But I'm sure there are plenty available on the second hand market.

Option 1: Speedmaster Moonwatch - Now I'm very torn up whether to get the latest model (with the hefty price increase) that was released this week, or the "old" version with 1861 movement.

Option 2: Speedmaster Apollo 11, 50th Anniversary - I mean wow, the detail on the watch is absolutely stunning. The only thing that lately has come across as a downside for me, is that when you look at the watch from afar, it seems as if there is some weird combination of colors with the gold and black and top, with the metal on the bottom and strap of the watch.

Option 3: Seamaster Diver 300M - 007James Bond - Edition - No Time To Die.
I tried this on in Switzerland this summer when visiting the Omega Museum and went into their shop downstairs after the visit. The feeling on your arm was just ... elegant and extremely beautiful. What is a downside to this one, is the material used and the fact that it will over time possibly get many bumps and scratches.

Hi Fred,
This is certainly an interesting list of contenders for your next watch.
The price points of the three vary fairly significantly. A good used Speedmaster 861 (full set) would probably be good value if you watch the market.
I have the Apollo 11 50th Anniversary and in my opinion it鈥檚 a beautiful watch. The dial changes to take on the light and colours in your environment. The gold detail is well done and the bracelet is very comfortable and a step up from the standard Speedmaster.
In your position I would probably go for the new Speedmaster. I think it has so much going for it and worth every penny. In 10 years time you will still want to own it. Just don鈥檛 loose the box, cards and receipt.
Thanks for your reply and good luck.

The very next on my list would be an affordable vintage Speedmaster Moonwatch with some patina. So for me that means nice yellow tritium hour markers. Currently I have an eye on the Apollo XI unnumbered edition so I also could see the yellow 863 caliber 馃グ

Sounds like a great choice. Let us know when you get it and post some photos 馃嵖

Indulge us 馃榾
Not really sure what that means 馃憥 but I guess you want to hear more about me getting that watch 馃榾 well by the end of last year I was looking for some other watches like a second Seamaster (had an eye on a 2254.50 but someone else was faster) when I thought "wait, focus!". I got into this because I fell in love with the Speedmaster and the history and I really wanted a vintage one. Since the most desired ones, like the references that were actually on the moon, are not cheap, a little a hard to judge and require patience while hunting, I felt more confident with this not so old Apollo XI. Thanks to the tritium dial it has that beautiful patina which I really want and which is also more "visible" than some other vintage characteristics of the older references. Also it is a hesalite sapphire sandwich and I now have a yellow 863 in addition to my copper 861 and rhodium 1861. After Christmas I then found my watch online, thought about it back and forth while it got reserved twice! But it wasn't sold and so I moved on it and got it! Now I am very happy with it and I can recommend every owner of a modern Speedmaster to also get a vintage one since it really has a totally different vibe! 馃グ
