·In a few months, I've potentially got some money to spend on a significant watch purchase & at a cross roads on what to buy. Over a year ago I did purchase an 3861 Speedy sapphire sandwich, which was one of the 2 that were top of my wishlist. Managed to get a great deal before several price increases in the UK.
Only had the watch a few weeks, before the lure of the other watch (out of the 2) partly because I couldn't get a good fit on the new bracelet, this was just as the new clasps was being rolled out.
Since then I've missed the Speedy, and keep wanting another, it would be the sapphire 3861 as I like the applied logo & see through case back.
However I'm also liking a lot the green 'seaweed' Seamaster, however generally a lot of the parts on the Seamaster i'm not a fan off, but somehow the green just works.
Size wise 42mm is max I'll get on with, generally I like divers more, however having a few chronographs last year I thoroughly enjoyed them.
No my concern is the green Seamaster (apart the Nekton & the special forces ones are the only others I like) won't age well, is the colour a fad, will it stand the test of time like a classic black/ white. I only like this on the rubber strap, and will the watch I eventually pass onto my son (my daughter is getting the BB58). How will this modern looking & material watch age, unlike a iconic/ classic Speedy.
My concern with the Speedy, is I already moved it once already, will I regret re buying it!
Thoughts?
