Hello, I'm a beginner planning to buy my first omega watch, and i am seeking advices about vintage omegas.
After several hours of research I pretty much narrowed my search down to these 3.
Which one is the best to start a collection? This Turler Constellation, Seamaster, or that Silver bracelet Constellation?
Feel free to tell me why one is better than another based on your opinions.

Welcome

What has your research shown? Please post pictures of all the examples comparing and contrasting these references and your opinion on the authenticity of the ones you seek after comparison with known originals.

I would like to learn about these and you can help. Thanks in advance.

And, if you cannot tell originals from non-originals, this would be a great exercise for yourself. Can't wait to read and see your examination and opinions.

If you do not value originality, pick and wear the one you like.

Thanks, I don't know how to perform a proper verification but I'll try:
For the Seamaster (166.032) the hands correspond as well as the hours and minutes markers. The caseback also looks like it matches despite the poor photo quality.
Crown and bezel also look like a match.

For the 2 Constellations (168.017) could I just compare them between them as they're the same reference?
I saw that the leather bracelet one as a luminescent dot around each minute marker like on the Seamaster, does it change something?
The metal bracelet one seller does not show the inside engravings on the bracelet like shown below and neither the mechanism.

For the leather bracelet one mechanism looks identical to an authentic one.
Case looks good as well as the dial details
Unfortunately, I can't see either case backs.
Tell me how I did please.

Sorry for the apparent misunderstanding, English is unfortunately not my native language. As I said I'm just trying to learn about this world and willing to make efforts.

If I were looking at these 3, and originality was important, I would choose #2, as the dials in #1 & #3 are repainted.( I did not look at the rest of the watch).

Dials are 75-90% of the value and originality is king if you ever resell.

If, as I said, you do not value originality, then pick the one you like best.

Being a collectors Forum, 98.43% of us prefer originality.

Good luck! Happy you are into mechanical watches that are vintage!

There are many threads here on the Forum if you wish to see originals.

what makes you think they are repainted ? Because to me they look original .
Maybe the meister\turler was later added but on an original dial

Hello and welcome

When considering a vintage watch its good idea to research the specific reference (model) and familiarize yourself with the expected case, dials, and movements for that watch. So many to choose from, it takes some time for sure.
I agree that the second watch (silver bracelet Constellation) is the best of these 3, its known as a C-cased Constellation- and its a popular model and this one is quite good example and would be a good place to start a vintage Omega collection. Its reasonably priced IMO and you could probably bargain a bit.
But I would review this thread showing many nice examples from OF members, and also the article by Desmond on the C-case history.
Good luck and happy hunting, and stick around for the ride its fun but also addictive...

Well, that is why one studies originals to know the difference. We all started where you are at now.

As I’ve mentioned before in other newbie posts like yours, there are only two ways to go, either spend one’s own time and effort to learn OR pay someone else for their time and efforts to buy and then sell to you.

What we in the Forum say, “Buy The Seller”, if you choose the later pathway. One will pay more going this way in all probability.

As before, I say again, Good Luck whichever path you choose.

Edit……this reply really was for the op…..

I can’t say I’m an expert on omega's but I did studied them for a bit over 10 years now , (I saw the edit that your reply was for the OP )

And honestly I am just curious about what makes you think those are redials , I would love to be educated if those are redials so I’ll know to spot them in the future .
TBH I’m not really familiar up close with these 2 models referred but based on my knowledge on vintage omega's they look fine to me . (Without referring to the Turler\Meister )

I would choose the Constellation-C with 1040. I can't see any post-processing from the photos - which doesn't rule it out - but I don't see any.It doesn't appear very polished, the stars on the back are easy to see, and the edges of the watch are sharp.I personally like the linen dial and having to search for a 1040 can be quite tiring and expensive.

On the other hand... the Türler also looks very good. 😀

Both with one of the best Constellation calibers ever - 564.

Good luck negotiating the price.

P.S. Misunderstandings are always Google Translater's fault. ;-)
