It is interesting that despite being a self proclaimed expert in the 300SL, he was/they were unable to alter all the chassis/engine/gearbox numbers correctly…..
Indeed.

Last night I learned about the scandal...

I celebrated my Name Day and decided to get myself a gift from Omega!

New NATO Strap for my Constellation

My Extract from the Archives was signed in Bienne, Jul 2nd 2021 by Petros Protopapas HEAD OF BRAND HERITAGE

Omega clearly has no communication with its departments

It shows!

For me, the document I have is invalid considering the scandal and the brand must compensate the victims

A watch cannot be sold in a sale for thousands with an Extract from the Archives document without another accompanying one, such as a Certificate of Authenticity

For me, the company owes financial compensation considering everyone who paid for their services such as

1. Extract from the Archives

2. Certificate of Authenticity

A class action lawsuit should be filed in the relevant Court by all victims or out-of-court decisions in favor of those who paid for the following services!

Sorry

There is a reason the following services are down!

This is a real joke for millions of Euros

I do agree with your points, I have an extract that damages the authenticity of a watch. At the scam times of Petros, he/they stopped detailing legitimate dials. When you have a watch with a special dial that in the past were detailed on the extract and not detailed on your extract - it implicitly implies it's not authentic. I boil a little everytime I think about it

What is your decision to stay without lawsuits?

It is clearly not in your interest to write this!

Omega owes millions for the following fake documents This is more than obvious!

Services suspended, no compensation...

It isn’t obvious to me. Here’s why.

I think you are confusing civil and criminal actions here. It is clear to me that the actions of certain Omega employees in the case of the Phillips Speedmaster auction were intentionally fraudulent. This is a criminal offense, and my understanding is that the Swiss law enforcement authorities are determining if formal charges will be brought against the individuals involved.

Omega was also the victim (to some extent) here, as the company was induced to overbid on that watch by the alleged fraudulent activities of its own employees. To the extent those activities violated any express or implied contracts between Omega and its employees, Phillips Auctions or any other individual, then those people may sue for civil damages.

But you need to prove the precise amount of your damages. Outside of the amounts you actually paid Omega for your extract, that is going to be very difficult. First, you’d need to prove that your particular extract may be incorrect and was produced with the intent to damage you. I don’t believe that restricting records (by not disclosing specials dials or other distinguishing characteristics of certain watches) that Omega believes may be incorrect, damaged you. In fact, it could be protecting you.

Bottom line is that some Omega employees may have committed criminal acts against the company and others involved in a specific transaction. Omega terminated those employees and suspended services until it can determine the best course of section moving forward.

That (at least in my opinion) does not make all other information provided by Omega fraudulent, nor does it mean that it is liable for “damages” on other information it has provided unless it can be proven that those other documents were incorrect.

As an outsider, I think it would be an uphill battle to sue any Swiss citizen or company in Switzerland. The Swiss are very protective of their own.

So I wish you good luck in your quixotic quest.

Just a reminder, these things were never a guarantee of authenticity for any watch, they never have been beyond dealers trying to pretend they were and their customers mindlessly believing it, and decades ago they basically worked on the honour system, you told them what the watch was and they'd print it for you.

It was meant to be some way of finding out some more information about the history of your watch, not a means of establishing provenance.

If you want to know whether a watch is authentic or not, read a book and do some research about the reference.

Just don't defend Omega!

It is more than clear how much money is being paid for a media blackout regarding the scandal...

Omega must compensate the victims who paid for the following documents!

This is Law, and you clearly don't understand it!

@andrianivanov You are evidently quite exercised about the whole situation but @gatorcpa is quite right.

The actions of some Omega employees in manufacturing false extracts is a rather heinous breach of trust.

However, The simple fact is that each and every purchaser of an extract would have to prove that their individual extract is fraudulent.

There is no evidence that all extracts are false, therefore, there are no obvious grounds for a class action.

If your extract was made in 2021, then it would have come with this disclaimer on it:

It specifically says this is no guarantee of authenticity. As noted some dealers tricked the gullible into thinking it was something more than it is, but that's not really Omega's fault. They make it quite clear right there on your extract...
