First post - woohooo! Long time lurker here and active member on that other forum (same username). Came across this listing and am interested to hear opinions. It's a 2915-3 with broad arrow hands and includes an Extract, 15,996,xxx serial number. Looks like #6 endlinks but do not see a bracelet number. Fire away! https://connect.invaluable.com/crot...er-Broad-Arrow-,-Movement-No.-159_6B34FCD9C4/
Movement number is appropriate for a 2915-1 or 2 but low for a 2915-3. Notice the Omega extract states reference as 2915.
And again, how do auction houses acquire extracts for movements that Omega claims they don't have records for? How much does one need to donate to the museum to get one?
Good point, but it does seem pretty darn close to the "16mm" referenced for the -3 at Speedmaster101.
Ooh correct sub-dial hands! You don't often see those. Dial looks nice. The bracelet is later whatever the buckle reference says as it has folded links. That minute hand does look a little short, needs further investigation.
Regarding the serial numbers is sub 16 definitely off? The 101 tables look approximate on 2915s and don't have MWO to hand, what do they say? Quick google found 4 off 2915-3 with 15XX serial numbers. Not sure how many members have 2915-3 and what the serials numbers are ? https://meridianaeshop.com/collections/watches-by-oredelmondo/products/omega-speedmaster-ref-2915-3 http://www.christies.com/lotfinder/Lot/omega-a-very-fine-and-rare-stainless-5841764-details.aspx/ http://www.sothebys.com/en/auctions/ecatalogue/2015/important-watches-n09441/lot.80.html https://omegaforums.net/threads/speedmaster-2915-3-movement.33289/ I have now been reading other posts/forums and the whole 2915 serial numbers thing seems to be an area of much contention, maybe should have kept my mouth shut
The system's rigged I tell ye! (I might be sore about this as I was just turned down for an extract for a 1585xxxx watch, so not a million miles away this 2915). If only I knew then that a box of milk tray might have swayed it
Some people that have this reference see "wrong" thing and comment, bezel on this 2915-3 is from 2998-2 for sure, movement number for 2915-3 start with 16649xxx,and movement holders are unique features of this reference.
I didn't comment on the watch... i'm just quite annoyed that I can't get extracts when auction houses can.
