Hi guys, this is my first post in this forum.

My grandfather's watch is an Omega Seamaster 168.023 (751 calibre). I absolutely love this watch and wanted to get it serviced due to some issues I was facing, namely:

1. The time setting mechanism seems loose and clicks without adjusting time, unless I am very deliberate with pressure (video below for reference)

2. The crown is too tight when pulling out

3. The quick set date is very rarely working

I am thinking to take the watch to an alternative service centre (not officially authorized).
To make sure they use the right parts - I am thinking of ordering the parts online, which I think are most likely to be changed, for example the below date corrector which i learned about from here. : https://omegaforums.net/threads/setting-date-on-a-751-constellation-with-broken-quick-set.105210/

Any other parts that you think I should arrange for? Specifically for the loose time set mechanism and date? Or any other suggestions?

Some back story: Initially I thought I'll get it serviced at an authorized service centre in India, where I'm from. However, their attitude has got me really scared. They say they have to dis-assemble the watch to find the problem and service it (of course). But in this process, if they give me an estimate that is too high and I refuse, they cannot guarantee my watch will work after re-assembly. Should I just go for the authorized service?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Welcome to the forum.
If you post where you are, someone can probably recommend a good watchmaker who will be able to service your watch and source any parts that it may need.

Guessing what parts you might need is a fools errand imo. You’ll almost certainly get it wrong.
A good independent what hamlet can take care of all this for you.
Let us know your rough location or do a search on the forum for recommendations

Hmmm, my car won't start, I'll buy a battery, alternator and starter, then maybe the mechanic I take it to can fix it...

As @X350 XJR wryly commented, I would suggest holding off on buying parts "that might or might not fix the problem".

You have two courses of action.

1. Send it to an Omega Service centre and pay the standard service cost.

2. Send it to an independent watchmaker, let them diagnose the problems and source the parts. If they are unable to do that, you may have to find them yourself.

I understand your location may present obstacles that some of are not used to, but persevere and ask more questions if you have to.
